    Abstract: A brewing chamber works with a pod to brew a beverage and drains the beverage from the pod without being obstructed by the brewing mechanism to substantially avoid contaminating the beverage and brewing mechanism. The pod is designed to drain the beverage once a gap is formed between an extension of an internal filter that is peelably coupled with a rim of the outer container. The brewing chamber is adapted to hold the pod in a substantially horizontal orientation where a hook slides to separate the extension from the rim to form the gap and the hook is tucked away so that the beverage may drain from the pod unobstructed by the hook.

The pod has a proximal end and a distal end, where the heated water enters the pod in the proximal end to extract the beverage from the beverage ingredient within the filter and the beverage exits through the distal end of filter where the flow of the beverage is controlled by one or more retainer walls to slow the flow of beverage along the distal end of the pod, and the beverage is redirected to flow towards the proximal end of the pod where it drains between a gap formed during the brewing process.

Compared with a conventional grating measurement method, the present disclosure provides a grating interference sensing signal that realizes a higher optical subdivision rate itself.

The beverage capsule comprises an inner cup, an outer cup and a sealing film, and the top edge of the inner cup is provided with an inner cup outward flange, which fits with the top edge of the circumferential wall of the outer cup to form a ring surface seal, and has an outward extension part that extends to the outer side of the outer cup in the radial direction, and the sealing film seals the top opening of the inner cup. In such an arrangement, the beverage capsule can form a tear opening between the inner cup outward flange and the top edge of the circumferential wall of the outer cup by means of a film tearing mechanism acting in a tearing form.
