  • Publication number: 20110099500
Abstract: A computer-implemented method, comprising determining a displayable sub range of events from among event records in a stored repository of network event data; determining a start time; in response to determining the start time, loading from the repository, a subset of a specified number of event records representing only network events that occurred at one or more network infrastructure elements before the start time; graphically displaying, in a first portion of a screen display on a display unit, an event graph that plots a number of network events that occurred in each of a plurality of discrete time periods represented by the sub range of events, and between the start time and the end time; graphically displaying, over the event graph, a time slider and a loaded event indicator area that is delimited by the start time and the end time; displaying, in a second portion of the screen display, a table listing only such network events as occurred between the start time and end time as indicated by the loaded e

  • Publication number: 20060104224
Abstract: A wireless local area network access point is provided that authenticates users using fingerprint recognition. Users may register fingerprints with the wireless access point with the assistance of an authorized system administrator. When a registered user attempts to access the network, the user may be prompted to provide a fingerprint scan. A fingerprint reader in the user's equipment may be used to capture the user's fingerprint. The captured fingerprint may be submitted to the wireless access point for comparison with a database of fingerprints of authorized users. If the captured fingerprint is valid, the user may be granted wireless network access by the access point.

  • Patent number: 6892351
Abstract: Methods apparatus and computer programs products for creating a multimedia presentation having video frames and video segments with synchronized audio are disclosed. Audio-video data is separated into an audio stream and the video sequence. The video sequence is divided into video segments, with each video segment comprising a group of frames. For each video segment an audio significance measure is calculated using the audio stream. Using the audio significance measure, the video segment is selected in its entirety or, alternatively, one or more slide frames are extracted from the corresponding group of frames. The selection of video segments or slide frames can also be performed on the basis of an additional video significance measure. The audio stream and selected video segment and slide frames are synchronized, then synchronously reproduced as the multimedia presentation.

  • Patent number: 6874021
Abstract: A page for sending to a client process from a server during network management incorporates a form having a plurality of input fields and a submit button. The form is associated with either a first submit method or a second submit method. The first submit method is for obtaining information about a state of a particular network device. The second submit method is for changing the state of a particular network device. The page is sent to the client process. In response to activation of the submit button in the client process, routines are executed to operate on the particular network device based on which submit method was associated with the form. Using these techniques, a single set of input fields can be designed for both displaying and editing the state of network devices.

  • Patent number: 6804816
Abstract: Techniques for developing device-centric network management applications include a template. A computer platform includes one or more processors and an operating system. The template includes one or more sequences of statements of a platform-dependent scripting language. The statements are processed by a Web server executing on the platform. The statements cause the Web server to define a plurality of standard management methods and call at least a first standard management method. The statements also cause the Web server to define page level variables for holding in memory values used as parameters for the standard management methods. The template also includes a place to insert application-specific statements for presenting network information to a Web-based client process and for receiving input from the Web-based client process. A developer inserts the application-specific statements.

  • Patent number: 6759942
Abstract: A communication system is provided for an automotive vehicle (10) that uses existing vehicle components with only slight modifications that can be implemented in readily changeable software. The system includes a vehicle bus (14) and a vehicle information source coupled to the vehicle bus. The vehicle information source (28) couples vehicle information to the vehicle bus (14). The transmitter (16) transmits a first communication having a first transmitter identification code and first vehicle information. A receiver (22) is coupled to the vehicle bus. The receiver (22) couples a second communication word having second vehicle information to the vehicle bus. The automotive vehicle (10) also has a safety system and a safety system controller (34) coupled to the bus. The safety system controller (34) actuates the safety system (36) in response to the second vehicle information.

  • Patent number: 6616700
Abstract: A system is described for converting full motion video (102) into multiple markup language (HTML, WML, BHTML) presentations (140) targeted to different devices (144-152) and users. The markup language presentations (140) consist of different combinations of important visuals, audio and transcript of the full motion video (102), depending on the audio and visual/text display capability of the devices (144-152) and the user's requirements (112, 116). The important visuals are keyframes selected (118) from the video (102) based on significance measure (114, 112) associated to different segments in the video (102). The combinations of audio, visuals and transcript can be played in a synchronous/asynchronous manner. The user can control the rate of visuals and transcript displayed.

  • Patent number: 6342904
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for converting audio-video data from a full motion video format to a slide show presentation with synchronised sound. The full motion video is received from a source, separated into an audio stream and a video sequence, the video sequence is divided into a number of shorter video segments, key frames are extracted for each segment and a significance measure is calculated for each frame. A database is created wherein the extracted data is stored for subsequent (off-line) processing and reproduction. The system may have more than one system retrieving data from the database, selecting slide frames and subsequently displaying a slide presentation.
