Abstract: A method and a system configured for dynamically pinpointing information relating to occurrences of memory leaks. A first set of machine instructions received as input at a system and executable by a processor of the system thereby generating a second set of machine instructions from the first set of machine instructions in a main memory of the system. While executing the second set of instruction, an additional memory is allocated from a heap memory when the second set of instructions creates a heap allocated memory. The additional memory is configured to store a reference count indicating number of memory location comprising addresses of the heap allocated memory. The reference count approach is used to indicate when a memory leak has occurred.
