  • Patent number: 7360634
Abstract: A device for frictional inter-engagement between two mutually movable parts (13, 14). A lever mechanism exerts counter-directed pressing forces towards both parts to transfers movement between them. A lever (25) has a free lever end (27) contacted by a first (13) of the parts, and opposite to the free end a part-cylindrical convex surface (31) journalled in a part-cylindrical concave bearing surface (33). In order to eliminate the risk of jamming of the lever due to excessive surface pressure, it is journalled with rolling bodies, preferably cylindrical bodies (34).

  • Patent number: 5616147
Abstract: Apparatus to determine the mutual positions of a femur head and a pelvis in the course of hip surgery in order to be able to make correct securement of prosthetic hip components. Elongated first and second orientation rods are releasably securable respectively to a femur head and a hip pelvis. A gauge rod (13) extends between the two orientation rods and is displaceable along one of the orientation rods. The gauge rod is releasably securable in any of a plurality of adjusted positions longitudinally of that one orientation rod, in order to control the mutual parallelism and the distance between the two orientation rods. The orientation rod other than that one orientation rod has gauge markings thereon for determining the position of the gauge rod along that other orientation rod.

  • Patent number: 5429121
Abstract: An openable retractor for use in an operation wound/surgical incision in the region of a patient's spine. The retractor includes two mutually-hinged halves (2, 4), each of which comprises an upper hinge part (6, 6') which, on the side thereof remote from the hinge, merges with a downwardly-extending shaft (8) at a radial distance from the hinge axis or its extension, a wound widening and restraining part (10) which projects laterally from the lower part of the shaft in a direction away from the hinge axis and which is intended for engagement with muscle tissue on one side of the operation wound, and a latching device (68) which is intended to be applied in the region of the hinge formed by the hinge parts (6, 6') of respective retractor halves and which functions to lock the retractor halves in an outwardly angled active position (functional position).

  • Patent number: 4635772
Abstract: A clutch arrangement for coupling together two mechanisms. A first member comprises a lever arm having a partially cylindrical section, the partially cylindrical section having secured to a planar surface a gripping element extending parallel to and spaced from the axis of the partially cylindrical section. The first member further comprises a guide in which the partially cylindrical section may rotate. The second member comprises a recess adapted to receive the guide, and a gripping surface adapted to cooperate with the gripping element of the first member. The first and second members are so dimensioned that when the first and second elements are coupled, the planar surface of the partially cylindrical section and the planar gripping surface of the second member are spaced from and parallel to one another. The gripping element bears against the gripping surface, thereby restricting rotation of the lever arm in at least one direction.
