    Abstract: A preparation and crushing tool, particularly for processing refuse material, including a drum mounted for rotation about a central axis at a subcritical speed, at least one rotor disposed within the drum eccentric to the axis of the drum and mounted for rotation about its own axis in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the drum and at a higher speed than the drum. The rotor includes a plurality of splitting tools which are disposed in axially and radially spaced locations along the axis of the rotor. A stationary hood is provided which forms an end wall of the drum and is in sealing engagement therewith. Material is fed into the device in the upper region and provision is made for discharge of the processed material from the lower portion of the device.
