  • Patent number: 5479771
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for manufacturing a yarn from fiber material at least two spinning devices arranged adjacent to one another are provided. Fiber material is dissolved and fed to the at least two spinning devices. Each spinning device generates an individual spun fiber. The individual spun fibers are combined at the inlet opening of a hollow spindle axis to form a yarn. The yarn undergoes a two-for-one twisting operation by being passed in a first yarn feeding direction through the hollow spindle axis to an outlet opening of the hollow spindle axis, then radially guided from the outlet opening, and guided in a second yarn feeding direction counter to the first yarn feeding direction to form a yarn balloon rotating in a direction of rotation about the at least two spinning devices. A centering element is arranged on an axis extending along the hollow spindle axle so as to be spaced from the inlet opening of the hollow spindle axle.

  • Patent number: 4574575
Abstract: A two-for-one twisting spindle which, in order to prevent the thread from being further drawn off through the hollow spindle shaft in the event of thread breakage, is provided in the range of the hollow spindle shaft, with a compressed air operated device to influence the thread passage. The compressed air operated device includes an element adapted to be moved into the path of travel of the thread, and a counter element opposing the movable element and cooperating therewith whereby the movable element which is adapted to be moved into the path of travel of thread is a stud to be coaxially inserted into the hollow spindle shaft from below.

  • Patent number: 4574570
Abstract: An apparatus for untwisting a multi-ply yarn over a predetermined portion of the length thereof has an untwisting element provided with two contact surfaces which face one another and between which the multi-ply yarn is guided and whose mutual spacing is greater than the thickness of each of the individual strands forming the multi-ply yarn and smaller or equal to the thickness of the multi-ply yarn, at least along a line transversely of the longitudinal direction of the multi-ply yarn. The contact surfaces are displaced relative to one another in mutually opposing directions transversely of the longitudinal direction of the multi-ply yarn. Torque is then relay transmitted to the multi-ply yarn and leads to the untwisting of the multi-ply yarn.

  • Patent number: 4334404
Abstract: There is described a two-for-one twisting spindle having a supply receptacle for a lubricant arranged in a base of a protective pot, a region of an outer circumferential surface, of the protective pot, over which the revolving thread passes when the spindle is operating, communicating with the supply receptacle in such a way that lubricant is brought to the said region of the circumferential surface. Thereby the supply receptacle is in a stationary part of the spindle, so that lubricant content in the receptacle has no inertial effect on the running of the spindle. The arrangement enables consistent but not excessive wetting to be provided for the thread without the thread being subjected to undesirable stresses while the spindle is operating. In the arrangement shown, a protective pot 4 has a sidewall 5, over which thread 16 passes when the spindle is operating, and a base 7 having a cavity holding a supply of lubricant 10.

  • Patent number: 4302930
Abstract: The improved yarn brake mechanism of this invention is provided with a tubular brake housing having axially spaced apart inlet and outlet openings for passage of a yarn therethrough and an enlarged cavity formed in the tubular brake housing between the inlet and outlet openings. A pair of cooperating brake platelets is mounted in the enlarged cavity of the brake housing, the brake platelets having surface portions positioned in opposing contacting relation for applying tension to a yarn passing therebetween, and having peripheral portions which cooperate with one another to form a V-shaped groove for guiding the yarn between the opposing contacting surface portions.

  • Patent number: 4297834
Abstract: The yarn brake of this invention is useful in a textile yarn processing machine, such as a two-for-one twister, and includes a stationary permanent magnet arranged at one end of a brake housing and spaced from a fixed braking surface in the direction of movement of the yarn. A braking body is movably positioned within the housing between the braking surface and the permanent magnet, with the braking body including a permanent magnet having a magnetic polarization oriented in repelling relation to the stationary permanent magnet for thus biasing the braking body toward and into engagement with the braking surface to apply tension to a yarn passing therebetween. The magnetic repelling forces allow the braking body to be reliably moved out of engagement with the braking surface when necessary, as for example by a pneumatic flow applied to thread a yarn through the brake, or to accommodate knots or other variations in thickness in the yarn.

  • Patent number: 4287712
Abstract: A textile yarn processing machine, such as a two-for-one twister, is provided with a pneumatically operated yarn threading mechanism for initially threading a yarn through a hollow spindle of the textile processing machine during a thread-up operation and an improved self-threading yarn brake mechanism for applying tension to the yarn as it passes through the hollow spindle during operation of the machine. The improved yarn brake mechanism is constructed to cooperate with the threading mechanism to facilitate automatic threading of the yarn through the hollow spindle and is characterized in that the compressed air which is supplied to the threading mechanism during the thread-up operation also operates to move the yarn brake mechanism from an engaged position to a released position to thus automatically provide a clear path for threading the yarn through the hollow spindle.

  • Patent number: 4164115
Abstract: Improved pneumatically operated yarn threading mechanisms are provided for textile yarn processing machines, such as a two-for-one twister or the like, having spindle assemblies each including a rotor mechanism with a yarn passageway extending along the axis of the spindle assembly and radially out, a stationary carrier mechanism carrying a hollow yarn supply package and including a hollow hub portion extending through the yarn package with a yarn passageway extending along the axis of the spindle assembly and joining with the rotor mechanism yarn passageway. The threading mechanisms automatically thread yarn withdrawn from the supply package through the passageways and includes air injector nozzle positioned at the juncture of the yarn passageways for selectively creating an air suction and positive air jet through the respective yarn passageways and an air duct for selectively supplying air under pressure to the injector nozzle from an air supply connector moved into and out of connection therewith.

  • Patent number: 4120142
Abstract: A pneumatic yarn injection mechanism is provided for being operatively associated with textile machines and particularly pneumatic threading mechanisms of spindle assemblies of textile yarn processing machines, such as two-for-one twisters. The pneumatic yarn injection mechanism is characterized by a construction for creating a suction therein for grasping a free end of yarn extending outwardly from a supply package of yarn in the spindle assembly of the textile machine and for creating a positive air stream therein for conveying the free end of yarn therefrom to a desired location in the spindle assembly of the textile machine for receipt by a suction air stream created by the pneumatic threading mechanisms for effecting threading-up of the spindle assembly and to eliminate manual handling of the free end of yarn during such pneumatic threading-up of the spindle assembly.

  • Patent number: 3975893
Abstract: In a textile yarn processing machine, such as a two-for-one twister or the like, having a plurality of spindle assemblies each including a driven rotor mechanism and a stationary yarn supply package carrier mechanism each defining therewithin joining elongate yarn passageways; the combination therewith is provided of pneumatically operated threading mechanisms for automatically threading yarn withdrawn from the supply package through the passageways and which is characterized by a construction which eliminates the necessity of predetermined positioning of the rotor mechanism for the threading operation and, preferably, provides for the supply of air under pressure thereto only through stationary spindle assembly components, as follows. A selectively operated, air injector nozzle is positioned at the juncture of the yarn passageways for creating an air suction through the carrier mechanism passageway and a jet of positive airflow through the rotor mechanism passageway for pneumatic threading of the yarn.
