    Abstract: This invention concerns a sheet for producing plastic films with a tear-resistant layer and a plastic layer that is applied to the former and has a surface that faces away from the tear-resistant layer and is suitable for applying liquid or pasty plastics for the plastic film to be produced. The surface of the layer of plastic which is preferably a negative of a relief pattern consists of polypropylene. The sheet permits a high fidelity in reproduction of the relief pattern plus a long lifetime as well. The sheet may be relatively thin, so a great length can be wound up on a roll. Therefore, great lengths of a plastic film can be produced in one piece by casting or spreading liquid plastic on the sheet. Therefore, the conversion time required for the manufacturing installation is short, which has a positive effect on the price of the product.

    Abstract: A method for producing imitation leather which can be injection molded from the back as well as such imitation leather which can be injection molded from the back are disclosed. The imitation leather comprises a web layer with a decorative layer. In a first operational cycle, an open plastic framework is inserted into the web layer over the side of the web layer facing away from the decorative layer and subsequently, in one or a plurality of further operational cycles, one or a plurality of further open plastic frameworks are inserted. The surface of the web layer forms an adhesion layer for and at the same time a barrier against the injection molding compound. The resilience of the imitation leather is retained.

    Abstract: A pressure- and vacuum-moldable foam sheeting, consisting of a foam layer, on which is applied a decorative layer, and optionally a primer layer as well as additional layers, for lining the interior of vehicles, is described. It is distinguished owing to the fact that the foam layer has a) a density of approximately 25 to 200 kg/m.sup.3, b) an elongation at break according to DIN 53571 of at least about 50% and c) a compression hardness according to DIN 53577 of at least 50 kPa (at 50% deformation). Preferably, the foam layer consists of a polyolefin. This vacuum-and pressure-moldable foam sheeting does not require any PVC material for its foam layer; disposal problems are thus eliminated. Because of the low weight of the foam sheeting, there is very little rejected material during secondary processing. The foam sheeting is distinguished by good mechanical properties and satisfies the demanding delivery conditions of the automobile industry.

    Abstract: A multilayered polyurethane upholstery material wherein the upper cover layer is designed as a color fast and non-abrasive polyurethane layer with high porosity. Right next to it a foamed lining layer which partially merges into the following layer made of fleece. This fleece layer consists of a fleece impregnated with a binder with suction and storage properties. The highly porous cover layer can let moisture pass through and give it off to the lower fleece layer, so that the cover layer itself remains free.

    Abstract: A substrate having an appearance similar to that of nubuk-leather or pile-leather, respectively, or of a textile pile consists of a textile carrier body being at least partially impregnated with a, preferably cross-linked, polymeric synthetic plastics material consisting of a foam which has open cells formed by introducing air and optionally has closed cells formed of hollow microspheres. The textile carrier body consists of a fleece or of a knitting, preferably of a crimped fleece of synthetic fibres, which is needled together with a knitting or with a fleece, strengthened by thermal embossing, in such a manner that the fibres extend through the knitting. The knitting may consist of a roughened stockinet, i.e. a stockinet having opened loops. The carrier body is ground at least at its one impregnated surface and is thus rough and can be provided with a coating.

    Abstract: A method for producing the matrix for the embossing cylinder which has a uniform pattern design in the marginal areas adjoining the abutment where the ends of the blanket are joined to form the tube comprising (1) casting liquid silicone rubber on a sheet of leather having the desired grain and vulcanizing the silicone, (2) using the matrix thus formed to emboss, under heat and pressure in a press, a rectangular sheet of thermoplastic resin such as polyvinyl chloride film, (3) forming the embossed sheet into a tube, (4) placing the portion of the tube having abutting edges in a narrow platen press and reembossing the area surrounding the abutment with the silicone rubber matrix to mask the impression of the joint and provide a continuous uninterrupted pattern, and (5) using the positively-embossed thermoplastic sheet as a matrix for casting vulcanizable silicone rubber to form a negatively-embossed matrix for use as a blanket on an embossing roll.
