  • Publication number: 20180214337
Abstract: An apparatus for assisting a user in rising from a seated position onto a walker is presented. The invention is a stabilizer assembly with a hinge coupled to the wheelbase of each front leg of a walker. A stabilizer bar configured to be in a stowed or deployed position is coupled to the hinge. The stabilizer bar is configured to lay substantially flat on the ground and angled away from front wheel centerline when in the deployed position such that the walker is restrained from movement when a caregiver steps on the stabilizer bar.

  • Patent number: 5459954
Abstract: A display apparatus having a transparent image screen which contains a mosaic of four discrete images formed from pixels which are interwoven in a predetermined arrangement such that each of the images are selected by precise positioning of the screen in four different positions relative to a grid mask which masks out all but pixels of a selected image. A platen comprising a platen surface which is supported by a rib structure mounts the image screen and is moveable through a precise pattern for selecting the pixels, and thereby the image, to be projected. A pair of arms are coupled to the platen and an eccentric drive and are driven by the eccentric drive to advance the platen positively through the pattern.

  • Patent number: 5175600
Abstract: A collimator mounting assembly adapted for attachment to a missile launcher having a pivot member, called a traversing unit, at the apex of a tripod, that is adapted to replace a horizontally-oriented missile launching tube on the pivot member, and includes a mechanism for attaching the collimator mounting unit to the traversing unit, and adjustable tilt, azimuth, and elevation-controllable support plates for a tubular, horizontally-oriented collimator. This assembly permits the optical axis of the collimator placed atop the assembly to be parallel to the longitudinal axis of the missile launch tube, and permits referencing the collimator optical axis to the boresight of the missile launch tube.

  • Patent number: 5083034
Abstract: A target system adapted for use in a cassegrain reflective optical collimator system comprises a single target pattern including at least one visible target, at least one near infrared target and at least one far infrared target. This single test target pattern is joined to a heat-transmitting target support member positioned behind the target pattern, to a heater behind the heat-transmitting target support member, to an insulator behind the heating means, and to an illuminator for each of the targets in the single target pattern behind the insulator plate. The elements of the target system are cemented together in precise registration to form a rugged reliable unit that is low in cost, and that includes all the targets in a single focal plane positioned precisely and as accurately as one micron, which results in optical angular position accuracies of at least 20 microradians when the target is positioned in a long focal length optical system.

  • Patent number: 4236130
Abstract: A solenoid comprises an electric coil having an opening through it and an armature of permeable material having in fixed relative relationship a core passing through the opening of the coil and a sleeve surrounding the coil. The armature is unmagnetized except for magnetization induced by current flow through the coil. The coil and the armature are relatively movable in an axial direction to vary the extent of overlap therebetween. A pole piece of permeable material connects the sleeve to the core at one end. A pole piece of permeable material is fastened to the end of the coil opposite to the first named pole piece. In one embodiment the core is movable relative to the sheath prior to energization of the coil, to permit the coil to be preset to one of two positions in gapless relationship with the sheath.

  • Patent number: 4176618
Abstract: A triggering device for fire and smoke alarms in which a biased pin member is held in armed position by a latch element which is releasable when a bimetallic disc senses and responds to a selected temperature condition. The response of the disc is transmitted through a ball or antifriction element to which is imparted a lateral force for moving the latch element out of engagement with the pin member. The pin member is spring biased to urge the pin member against a member serving to cause actuation of the alarm.

  • Patent number: 4099178
Abstract: A test means for a smoke detector of light responsive type which includes a light source, a smoke chamber, a light responsive device sensitive to a light beam reflected from a preselected density of smoke in the smoke chamber for actuating an alarm signal, the test means including the same light source and light responsive device and having a separate test light path other than through said smoke chamber with light modifying means in the test light path to simulate a preselected smoke density. The test means includes a normally closed gate for said test light path, the gate being manually opened to transmit light along said test path to the light responsive device to cause actuation of the alarm in the absence of smoke in the smoke chamber.
