Abstract: Immobilizates of acylases (N-acyl-L-amino acid amidohydrolases) are prepared by binding the acylase to a carrier by reacting the acylase with a chemically bound reactive group of a cellulose derivative. The cellulose derivative is prepared by reaction of a hydroxyl group of cellulose with a reagent containing at least two reactive functional groups to provide the reactive group. The reaction of a hydroxyl group of cellulose and reagent is performed by contacting the reagent with cellulose dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide containing polyhydroxymethylene for reaction of the cellulose and reagent to form said derivative.

Abstract: Production of cellulose derivatives substituted by groups having functional moieties by reaction of a hydroxyl group(s) of the cellulose with an at least bifunctional reagent. The reagent is reacted with cellulose dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide containing polyhydroxymethylene.

Abstract: Process for production of dipropyleneglycol dibenzoate isomer mixture of the formulas: ##STR1## A crude methyl benzoate containing at least 80 wt.% methylbenzoate, which is a by-product of production of dimethylterephthalate by catalytic oxidation of p-xylene and/or methyl-p-toluate and esterification of the resulting acids with methanol, is contacted with dipropylene glycol commercial isomer mixture in the presence of a catalyst for a transesterification to produce said benzoate. The catalyst is an aluminum alkoxide or an aluminum silicon alkoxide containing the group Al O Si. The product is obtained in good yield, has good color, and is useful as a plasticizer for PVC.

Abstract: Surface active, liquid, hydroxyl-containing mixed esters which are condensation products of:(a) 1 mole of triethanolamine, glycerine, trimethylolpropane or pentaerythritol,(b) 1 to 2 moles of a saturated, branched, aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carboxylic acid of 16 to 26 C atoms or mixtures thereof, and(c) 0.1 to 0.9 moles, preferably 0.1 to 0.7 moles, of an aliphatic straight-chain or branched dicarboxylic acid of 3 to 10 C atoms, or mixtures thereof.
