  • Patent number: 11772367
Abstract: A laminated glazing comprising first and second sheets of glass joined by an interlayer structure is described. The second sheet of glass has a first edge surface in an upper region of the laminated glazing. The first edge surface of the second sheet of glass is configured to comprise at least one region between first and second edges of the second sheet of glass such that in the at least one region the shortest distance along a straight line on the first edge surface of the second sheet of glass connecting a first point on the first edge of the second sheet of glass to a second point on the second edge of the second sheet of glass is at least 1.7 times the thickness of the second sheet of glass. A method of making the laminated glazing is also described.

  • Patent number: 11511525
Abstract: A laminated glazing comprising first and second sheets of glass joined together by an interlayer structure comprising at least first and second layers of adhesive interlayer material with a support sheet therebetween is disclosed. The laminated glazing is arranged such that the first layer of adhesive interlayer material is between the first sheet of glass and the support sheet, the second layer of adhesive interlayer material is between the second sheet of glass and the support sheet support material and at least a portion of the second major surface of the first sheet of glazing material faces the first major surface of the second sheet of glazing material. In the event of breakage of the first sheet of glass, the second layer of adhesive interlayer material remains attached to the support sheet thereby keeping the second glass sheet from becoming detached from the laminated glazing.

  • Publication number: 20220363492
Abstract: A vacuum cup is described comprising a body portion having an elongate cavity and a contact surface for contacting a glass sheet to form a chamber with the elongate cavity and the glass sheet. An opening in the body portion is in fluid communication with the elongate cavity for connection to a low-pressure source so that the contact surface can form a seal with the glass sheet to attach the vacuum cup to the glass sheet. The periphery of the elongate cavity has major and minor axes orthogonal to one another, the major axis being longer than the minor axis. The periphery of the elongate cavity has first and second end portions at respective ends of the major axis, the first end portion being larger than the second end portion. Methods of using such vacuum cups to support a glass sheet during processing are also described.
