Abstract: A method for communication within a vehicle dispatch system (10) wherein a wireless communication device (36) co-located with a vehicle (14) receives a location parameter (50) in an assignment message (32), compares the location parameter (50) to the current location (56) of the vehicle (14) and processes the assignment message (32) when the location parameter (50) corresponds to the current location (56). The wireless communication device (36) includes a receiver (46), a memory (54), an assignment manager (58), and a processor (60).

Abstract: A vehicle locating system (200) includes a beacon (108) carried by a vehicle, a tracking control station (106) for generating a beacon activation signal (110) which enables the beacon (108) to broadcast a vehicle identification signal (112), and one or more mobile communication devices (116, 118) which include a first receiver (516) utilized to receive a location signal (122) identifying a geographic location of a mobile communication device, and a transceiver (406) utilized to provide communication between said mobile communication device and a communication system controller. The method includes receiving a request for dispatch (28) including an assignment location (66). An assignment message (32) including a first criteria paremeter (62) and a location parameter (50) is sent to the plurality of wireless communication devices (36). Each wireless communication device (36) receives the assignment message (32) including the first criteria parameter (62) and the location parameter (50), compares the location parameter (50) with a current location (56) using the first criteria parameter (62), transmit a reply (38) to the dispatch center (16) in response to the detection of an affirmative match.

Abstract: A method for assembling an antenna/receiver combination (305) comprises the step of forming a receiver (210) and an antenna (205) into printed circuit board material, wherein the antenna (205) is adjacent to and aligned with the receiver (210). Thereafter, the antenna (205) is electrically coupled to the receiver (210) while aligned therewith. A further step includes separating the antenna (205) and the receiver (210) from the printed circuit board material.
