  • Publication number: 20240188042
Abstract: In a wireless communication network a user device, UE, and a base station, gNB, are provided. The UE monitors one or more paging occasions, POs, for a paging signal directed to the UE by the base station network and receives, ahead of an upcoming PO, a paging early indication, PEI, the PEI indicating whether the UE is to expect a paging signal in the upcoming PO. Paging early indication, PEI, enhancements, for example for improving a power saving behavior of a user device, are described.

  • Publication number: 20240172246
Abstract: A transceiver configured for communicating in a wireless communication network being operated by at least one base station comprises an antenna unit configured for transceiving wireless signals in the wireless communications network. The transceiver is to monitor a physical downlink control channel, PDCCH to obtain downlink information; and to provide a feature such as a radio measurement in the wireless communication network. The transceiver is to skip monitoring PDCCH by performing no monitoring or by switching a search space of the PDCCH, for a duration of a skipping interval and for aligning the feature with the skipping interval in time.

  • Patent number: 9788320
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program for scanning for a secondary cell are provided. According to an embodiment, an apparatus operates in a primary cell of a cellular communication system, wherein the primary cell includes a primary component carrier associated with a bandwidth. The apparatus synchronizes scanning for a candidate secondary cell to radio transmissions in the primary cell, the secondary cell including a secondary component carrier expanding bandwidth beyond the bandwidth of the primary cell.

  • Patent number: 9538528
Abstract: An apparatus defines a set of resources out of a first number of orthogonal radio resources and controls a transmitting means to simultaneously transmit a respective first radio signal for each resource on all resources of the set. A respective estimated interference is estimated on each of the resources of the set when the respective first radio signals are transmitted simultaneously. A first resource of the set is selected if the estimated interference on the first resource exceeds a first predefined level and, in the set, the first resource is replaced by a second resource of the first number of resources not having been part of the set. Each of the controlling and the estimating, the selecting, and the replacing is performed in order, respectively, for a predefined time.

  • Patent number: 9326292
Abstract: Mechanisms for enabling distributed access control are disclosed. At least one communication channel is selected for wireless communication by a device by a selection procedure where interference impact of at least one communication channel on at least one interfered node is determined, an overall interference effect is formed, and a set of feasible communication channels is selected based on comparison of the overall interference effect to communication channel capacity. At least one communication channel can be selected from the selected set of feasible communication channels based on transmission collision information, a ratio of capacity of interfered transmissions and capacity of interference-free transmissions, usage history of the feasible communication channels, and fairness of communication channel selection. Information can be communicated to at least one device from a plurality of access nodes.

  • Patent number: 9071973
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program for allocating resources in a communication system. An access node sends a request for shared resources to one or more neighboring access nodes which have a strong interference bond with the access node. The neighboring access nodes send a response identifying the nature of their use of the shared resources. The access node then determines a new allocation of the shared resources based on the responses. This new allocation is then signalled to the neighboring access nodes.

  • Patent number: 8913575
Abstract: The present invention relates to optimized radio resource utilization in a cellular telecommunication system. A base station of such a system evaluate a capacity metric of the base station and capacity metrics of neighboring base stations. In response to detecting that the capacity metric of the base station is below a threshold with respect to the capacity metrics of the neighboring base stations, the base station enters a stand-by mode and releases its radio resources that essentially define a cell associated with the base station so that the released radio resources become available for allocation to at least one of the neighboring base stations.
