  • Patent number: 7252984
Abstract: The present invention relates to new attenuated mutant New Castle's disease La SotaNewcastle disease virus strains suitable for in ovo vaccination of avian species comprising a mutation in the gene sequences encoding the HN and/or F glycoproteins of said virus. Furthermore, the invention relates to a vaccine composition comprising said attenuated mutant Newcastle's disease La Sota virus strain, and to the use thereof for the preparation of a vaccine for in ovo vaccination of avian species against Newcastle's disease.

  • Publication number: 20040258713
Abstract: The present invention relates to new attenuated mutant New Castle's disease La SotaNewcastle disease virus strains. In particular, it relates to an attenuated mutant Newcastle's disease La SotaNewcastle disease virus strain suitable for in ovo vaccination of avian species comprising a mutation in the gene sequences encoding the HN and/or F glycoproteins of said virus resulting in an altered expression of said glycoproteins. Furthermore, the invention relates to a vaccine composition comprising said attenuated mutant Newcastle's disease La Sota virus strain, and to the use of said attenuated mutant Newcastle's disease La Sota virus strain for the preparation of a vaccine for in ovo vaccination of avian species against Newcastle's disease. Finally, the present invention also concerns a method for producing a vaccine for in ovo vaccination of avian species, said vaccine comprising attenuated mutant avian virus strains, which are selected using virus specific antibodies.

  • Patent number: 5450985
Abstract: An apparatus dispenses dry polyacrylamide (PAM), which is very sensitive to humidity, into irrigation water for stabilizing soil to reduce erosion and maintain porosity. A tank containing PAM discharges the PAM into a feed tube leading to a distribution canister. A fan at the canister blows a stream of air across an outlet end of the feed tube to keep moist air away from the end of the tube and facilitate discharge of the PAM into the canister and out of the open bottom end of the canister into the irrigation water. The apparatus is battery powered for use in remote areas without power lines and is operated periodically by a programmable timer.

  • Patent number: 5110086
Abstract: An improved irrigation valve has a valve housing with a tubular passage and an inlet opening in one side. The valve housing can be attached to an opening in an irrigation pipe so that water from the pipe can flow into the housing and through the inlet opening. A tubular valve in the tubular passage has a flow opening in its wall and an open outlet end, the valve member being rotatable in the passage to align the flow opening with the inlet opening to different degrees to control the flow of water through the valve from the pipe to the outlet. A baffle extends along an inside wall of the valve member to interfere with circular flow of water within said valve member to thereby reduce a fan effect at the outlet which such circular flow causes, the fan being a cause of erosion of the irrigated soil. Annular and axial ribs between the valve member and tubular passage reduce the ingress of dirt to reduce maintenance of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4589690
Abstract: A sealing structure to couple an irrigation valve through a rectangular opening in the side of a pipe includes a rectangular conduit portion and a rectangular gasket of elastomeric material. The gasket has a side wall which is wider than the other walls and flange portions which extend outwardly against the inner and outer surfaces of the pipe around the rectangular opening. The conduit includes a laterally extending flange which, upon assembly, encompasses the wider wall. Compression of the wider wall permits insertion of the other side of the conduit through the central opening in the gasket, forming a watertight seal with the rectangular opening.

  • Patent number: 4543990
Abstract: A valve is mountable in an opening in a gated pipe to control water flow, particularly in a cablegation system. A gasket is mountable in the irrigation pipe opening and a hollow leg of a T-shaped valve housing is inserted into the mounting member. The housing has a hollow, open-ended tubular portion which receives a hollow valve member. The valve member has an enlarged cap and a side opening alignable with the housing leg, the degree of alignment controlling the amount of flow. The valve member can also include a check valve.
