Abstract: A method for computer systems management using mind map techniques comprises receiving a request to generate a graphical summarization of relationships of a particular entity associated with an information technology (IT) infrastructure with other entities associated with the infrastructure, and generating a graphical representation of the particular entity and its relationships as a mind map comprising a plurality of linked nodes. The network of nodes may include a primary node representing the particular entity, a first link from the primary node to a first sub-network of nodes representing a first relationship, and a second link from the primary node to a second sub-network of nodes representing a second relationship.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting email content containment are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method comprises generating a first set of hash values corresponding to a first email document, wherein the first set includes a respective hash value corresponding to each of a plurality of character sequences of the first email document. The method further comprises generating a second set of hash values corresponding to a second email document, wherein the second set include a respective hash value corresponding to each of a plurality of character sequences of the second email document, and determining whether the first set of hash values is a subset of the second set of hash values.

Abstract: System and method for policy-based lifecycle management of data in file systems. In embodiments, an expiration policy for the files may be stored as part of the file system metadata. The expiration policy may be as simple as an expiration date for the file, or a more complex policy that specifies one or more metrics to be evaluated to determine if a file is expired. The expiration policy may also specify one or more actions to be taken if the file has expired. The expiration policy may be evaluated on attempts to access the files in the file system, on other file systems, and on backup/archive images to determine if the files are expired and thus whether access to the files is to be allowed. In one embodiment, a scan mechanism may periodically or aperiodically delete files in the file system for which the expiration date has passed.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for the control of finite impulse responses for alerting in policy-based automation. Embodiments of the alert definition mechanism may provide a graphical user interface (GUI) that assists the user in generating complex alert definitions by graphically displaying the signal waveform and providing graphical user interface elements according to a GUI paradigm for manipulating various parameters, such as thresholds, edges, rates, and sustain and repeat periods, to define the alert or alerts. Embodiments of the alert definition mechanism may be used, for example, to assist the user in configuring the policies used in a policy-based automation system. This graphical shaping paradigm may be used to graphically, rather than textually, define the various parameters for alert definitions for relatively simple to complex alert definitions. This graphical approach may be more intuitive to the user than conventional, text-based alert definition mechanisms.
