  • Patent number: 3971263
Abstract: A variable diameter pulley with centrifugal responsive weight means. Said pulley having means to adjust the wear pattern on the pusher ring thru an angular shiftable carrier block due to the inertial shifting between said carrier block and the input drive plate which frictionally engages said carrier block. Said pulley also having manually selectable negative torque responsive means, which in operation oppose the centrifugal responsive means.

  • Patent number: 3968702
Abstract: A variable diameter pulley including a pair of pulley flanges axially displaceable one relative to the other along a shaft, centrifugally responsive weights acting on one flange to cause axial displacement thereof, a pusher ring interposed between the actuating weights and the axially displaceable flange, a centrifugal weight carrier transmitting the rotation of the shaft to the axially displaceable pulley flange. This variable diameter pulley is characterized by driving the displaceable flange through follower blocks and guideways at the periphery of the displaceable flange and the centrifugal weight carrier rather than spline connection to the shaft for reduced angular vibration, noise and wear. There are two sets of guideways and the blocks can engage one or the other of these two sets but not both simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 3962927
Abstract: A variable diameter pulley including a pair of pulley flanges axially displaceable one relative to the other, centrifugally responsive weights acting on one flange to cause axial displacement thereof, a pusher ring interposed between the actuating weights and the axially displaceable flange, a drive device transmitting the rotation to the weights and the axially displaceable pulley flange. This variable diameter pulley is characterized by providing the pusher ring with opposite faces of dissimilar radial contours to selectively set the ring for engagement of the weights with a selected one of the contours and thus obtain a corresponding rate of axial action in the displaceable pulley flange.

  • Patent number: 3962928
Abstract: A variable diameter pulley including a pair of pulley flanges axially displaceable one relative to the other, centrifugally responsive weights acting on one flange to cause axial displacement thereof, a pusher ring interposed between the actuating weights and the axially displaceable flange, a drive device transmitting the rotation to the weights and the axially displaceable pulley flange. This variable diameter pulley is characterized by providing an axial stop to produce a minimum clearance between the pulley flanges and removable shims to adjust the spacing between the pulley flanges in relation to the wear of a belt engaged in this spacing.

  • Patent number: 3951224
Abstract: A variable diameter pulley including a pair of pulley flanges axially displaceable one relative to the other, centrifugally responsive weights acting on one flange to cause axial displacement thereof, a pusher ring interposed between the actuating weights and the axially displaceable flange, a drive device transmitting the rotation to the weights and the axially displaceable pulley flange. This variable diameter pulley is characterized by forming an annular space having inlet and outlet apertures appropriately positioned with respect to the weights, such that the latter act as vanes in the annular space to produce ventilation outwardly through the outlet apertures.
