  • Patent number: 6694971
Abstract: An apparatus for the protection of a face in general, and in particular the eyes, ears, nose, and respiratory system of a user includes a flexible material that is adapted to be disposed over a portion of the face. The flexible material includes a first end of an upper band or cord that extends from one side thereof and enters into a first seam of the flexible material. The first seam extends along an upper perimeter of the flexible material under the ears and around the back of the neck of the user and to the opposite side of the flexible material. A second end of the upper cord exits from the seam and passes through a first hole in a shield, the shield being formed of a transparent material, for example, a clear plastic. The first end of the upper cord passes through a second hole in the shield. The first and second ends can be displaced with regard to the first and second holes and retain the shield in an upper position relative to the face of the user.
