Publication number: 20090222569Abstract: A storage system may include a first storage device and a protocol translator. The protocol translator may be programmed to receive a storage-access command formatted in a first protocol format. The protocol translator may also be programmed to translate the storage-access command into a second protocol format. The storage system may include a pseudo-target-module coupled to the protocol translator. The pseudo-target module may be programmed to send the command to the first storage device after the command is translated into the second protocol format. A virtualization engine may provide an interface to the first storage device, and the storage-access command may be sent to the first storage device through the virtualization engine. The pseudo-target module may be programmed to receive data from both storage-area-network devices and network-attached-storage devices.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2009Publication date: September 3, 2009Applicant: ATRATO, INC.Inventors: Guy David Frick, Samuel Burk Siewert

Publication number: 20090043561Abstract: The present invention is a system and a method of emulating large numbers of network elements to enable testing the operational abilities of NMS devices to scale. According to embodiments of the present invention multiple network elements are emulated by using a single network element while ensuring that all multiple network elements appear to the NMS devices as real network elements The disclosed solution is comprised of an appliance that connects a NMS device to one real network clement. The appliance presents the network element to the NMS device as thousands of network elements with thousands of IP addresses. Using a real network element enables the system to emulate real world SNMP set/get behaviors. The proposed solution enables monitoring the behavior of NMS devices in controlled circumstances and to test their behavior under different load conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 9, 2007Publication date: February 12, 2009Inventors: Guy David Arieli, Yoram SHAMIR, Shmuel Shay Zluf

Patent number: 7465149Abstract: It is known there is ingestion of hot gas flow 35 from an annular flow 36 in gas turbine engines. This flow 35 is prevented from attaching to the disc by coolant flow 32 passing through gaps in lock plates 28, 29 by creation of a barrier layer. In order to regulate and enhance this effect spacer protrusions 31 are provided between ends of lock plates 28, 29. In such circumstances the gap 30 is controlled and therefore the rate of leakage flow 32 regulated for best cooling effect. This cooling effect and cooling flow 32 can be further enhanced by providing chutes 39 for presentation of the coolant flow 32.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2006Date of Patent: December 16, 2008Assignee: Rolls-Royce plcInventors: Jeffrey Alison Dixon, Ivan Lars Brunton, Timothy John Scanlon, Guy David Snowsill

Patent number: 6938614Abstract: An air intake apparatus for supplying air to an internal combustion engine comprises a hollow enclosure, an air filter and an air compressor which when activated compresses air supplied to the engine. The enclosure houses the air filter and compressor. An engine air supply path through the enclosure passes from an air inlet to the enclosure to an air outlet from the enclosure via the air filter, said enclosure inlet and enclosure outlet defining respectively an upstream end of the air supply path and a downstream end of the air supply path. The enclosure housing is subdivided by a dividing plate which holds the air filter upstream of the air compressor. The dividing plate also has an air inlet feature to allow air to enter an inlet to the air compressor after the air has passed through the air filter.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2001Date of Patent: September 6, 2005Assignee: Visteon Global Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark Anderton Criddle, Kevin Paul Cutts, Olivier Henri Eugene Desmons, Guy Morgan, Scott John Moore, Guy David Morris, John Charles New, James Justin Tindall

Patent number: 6892713Abstract: The present invention relates to an air intake apparatus for an internal combustion engine of an automobile. The apparatus has an enclosure with an air supply path running throughout. Within the enclosure is an electrically driven supercharger, an automotive battery arid possibly other electronics. The enclosure is divided by a partition with an air passage into a battery compartment and a supercharger compartment. The battery compartment is upstream of the supercharger compartment. Air enters the battery compartment through an inlet, travels through the air passage in the partition, enters the supercharger and leaves through an outlet in the supercharger compartment to feed the engine. When the supercharger is running it draws in additional cool air from outside the enclosure through the inlet.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2001Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Visteon Global Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark Anderton Criddle, Kevin Paul Cutts, Olivier Henri Eugene Desmons, Scott John Moore, Guy David Morris, John Charles New, James Justin Tindall

Patent number: 4866594Abstract: A system for monitoring and controlling distributed functions within a building, such as the pressure and temperature of gases stored within cylinders. A plurality of modules are located at strategic points within the building for performing specific allocated functions in relation to monitoring and controlling the status of the gas cylinders. A first type of module detects dangerous conditions within the gas cylinders and generates and displays alarm signals in response thereto. A second type of module displays the alarm signals at a location remote from the gas cylinders and transmits command signals for remote shut off of a predetermined one or more of the gas cylinders. A central module interconnects each of the first and second modules and controls signal transmission therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1988Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: Mitel Corp.Inventors: Guy David, Claude Lacasse, Christian Metivier, Luc Veillette
