Patent number: 11317562Abstract: A yield model generates a yield map for an agricultural field. A measurement system generates measured indicators that are a measurement or quantification of crop yield in the agricultural field. An observation system generates observed indicators that are spatial agricultural datasets describing observed characteristics of the agricultural field. To generate the yield map, the yield model generates a field array representing the agricultural field. The yield model generates an input array and a yield array by mapping the observed indicators and measured indicators to cells of the field array, respectively. The yield model determines a yield value for each cell of the yield array not including a mapped indicator using information included in the corresponding cells of the input array. The yield model generates a yield map using the determined yield values and the yield values in the yield array.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2018Date of Patent: May 3, 2022Assignee: Farmers Edge Inc.Inventors: Guy Dion Duke, Kevin John Grant

Patent number: 10317260Abstract: Embodiments relate to calibrating yield data points. A calibration system receives a plurality of groups of yield data points. Each group is associated with an attribute, such as, a machine identifier, a zone identifier, a localized zone identifier, and/or a moisture identifier. The system calculates a grand aggregate yield based on the yield data points of the plurality of groups. The system calculates a group aggregate yield based on yield data points of each group. The system subtracts the group aggregate yield from each yield data point of the group producing adjusted yield data points. The system adds the grand aggregate yield to each of the adjusted yield data points producing calibrated yield data points.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2016Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: Farmers Edge Inc.Inventors: Guy Dion Duke, Kevin John Grant

Patent number: 8502180Abstract: An apparatus and method for scanning a surface of an article moving along a travel path axis provide a compact sensor configuration. A first sensor unit has a first sensing field transversely directed toward the travel path axis and defining a first scanning zone. A second sensor unit has a second sensing field transversely directed toward the travel path axis and defining a second scanning zone. The first and second sensing fields are crossing one with another at a location sufficiently remote from the first and second scanning zones so as to not adversely affect the generation of sensor output data, while providing a compact arrangement of sensor units.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2010Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Centre de Recherche Industrielle du QuebecInventors: Michel R. Bouchard, Yvon Legros, Jean-Yves Garneau, Guy Dion

Patent number: 8193481Abstract: A method for assembling output data generated by at least one sensor unit having a local clock and linked to a data communication network with corresponding data representing sensed location on an article moving at a known speed or position/time profile along a travel path intersecting a sensing field associated with the sensor unit, makes use of reference time data that is compared with local time data generated by the local clock when the reference time data is received, causing a local clock update. Then, the sensor output data is assembled with the corresponding sensed location data according to an associated updated time data.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2009Date of Patent: June 5, 2012Assignee: Centre de Recherche Industrielle de QuebecInventors: Jean-Yves Garneau, Guy Dion

Patent number: 4181469Abstract: Apparatus for adding emulsifier to a fluid comprising a conduit for flow of fluid, having a nozzle portion or restriction in the conduit, and a tube extending into the region of the restriction, to supply emulsifier into the restriction region. A valve is disposed in the conduit so as to be responsive to the flow of fluid, displacement of the valve member resulting in displacing the tube thereby to render the displacement of the tube dependent on the flow rate of the fluid through the conduit. The conicity and diameter of the nozzle are adapted to the flow rate of the fluid in the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1978Date of Patent: January 1, 1980Inventor: Guy Dion-Biro
