  • Patent number: 7146921
Abstract: A retractable thruster for a surface or submersible vessel, having thruster a propulsion assembly with a rigid structure secured to a cylindrical turbine. The rigid structure contains a motor suitable for rotating at lease one propeller inside the turbine via at least one rotary shaft positioned between the motor and the propeller. The thruster preferably further has a plate for closing the hull placed beneath the turbine and secured thereto, the propulsion assembly being displaceable between a retracted position in which it is at rest inside the hull and a deployed position for providing propulsion in which the propeller is immersed beneath the hull. The propulsion assembly is movable between the retracted and deployed positions by the propulsion assembly moving in a uniformly circular direction about an axis of rotation situated substantially no higher than the level of the hull.

  • Publication number: 20060060127
Abstract: The present invention relates to a retractable thruster for a surface or submersible vessel, the thruster comprising a propulsion assembly comprising a rigid structure secured to a cylindrical turbine, said rigid structure containing or being suitable for containing a motor, said motor being suitable for rotating at least one propeller inside said turbine via at least one rotary shaft between said motor and said propeller, and preferably further comprising a plate for closing the hull placed beneath said turbine and secured thereto, said propulsion assembly being displaceable by displacement means between a retracted position in which it is at rest inside the hull and a deployed position for providing propulsion in which the propeller is immersed beneath the hull.

  • Patent number: 6648704
Abstract: The invention concerns a housing (1) for an angle gear box device of a boat propulsion motor designed to be immersed and to contain an angle gear box device comprising: two shafts rotating relatively to two perpendicular axes (XX′, YY′) whereof the first shaft (Y, Y′) is driven in rotation by said motor and a second shaft (XX′) drives at least a propeller in rotation; and mechanical elements comprising gears and roller bearings enabling the transmission of rotation of said first shaft to said second shaft.

  • Patent number: 6056610
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transverse or longitudinal thruster made for a floating or submersible vessel. The thruster includes a male part extending transversely to the axis ZZ' and of shape complementary to a female shape of a well having a longitudinal shape. The male part is attached to a maneuvering support arm of a cylindrical shape, and is arranged to slide longitudinally inside the well along its axis. The support arm passes through a guide bearing to the well with a clearance .DELTA..sub.1 between their respective complementary shapes. The clearance .DELTA..sub.1 is compatible with a clearance .DELTA..sub.2, obtained between the transverse male part and the edge of the well, where it joins the hull when the thruster is in the extended position. The clearances .DELTA..sub.1 and .DELTA..sub.2 are arranged to enable the male part to bear against the edge of the well to transmit thrust forces created by the thruster to the hull of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5152240
Abstract: A retractable and storable thruster for a vessel, using a trapezoidal deformably rotatable device producing rectilinear movement inside a well in the vessel's hull. A casing (1) is sealingly fixed on joint planes in a well (2) which is an integral part of the structure (3) of the vessel. Within this casing (1) are folded two arms (4) and (5) pivoting asymmetrically, a motor (10), a stirrup (17) secured to the motor, and a propulsion screw assembly. The two arms (4) and (5), on the one hand, are pivoted at (6) and (7) on the casing (1) and, on the other hand, at (8) and (9) on the stirrup (17) secured to the motor (10). Under manual or mechanical action (X) or (Y) exerted on a lever (12) secured to the arm (4) by a shaft (6), this arm (4) in compound rotation with the triangulation arm (5) causes the deformation of the trapezium obtaining a rectilinear movement in a direction parallel to axis (A Z) of the motor (10) at its axis (11).
