  • Patent number: 6132934
Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a heat-sensitive imaging material for making lithographic printing plates which require no processing. The heat-sensitive imaging element comprises on a lithographic base having a hydrophilic surface a metallic or metal oxide layer and on top thereof an oleophobic polymeric layer having a thickness of less than 5 .mu.m and comprising a polymer containing phenolic groups.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 1, 1999
Date of Patent: October 17, 2000
    Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert, N.V.
Inventors: Joan Vermeersch, Marc Van Damme, Guy Hauquier
  • Patent number: 6068965
Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a method for making on-press lithographic printing plates which require no processing. The method comprises the steps of:a. mounting a heat-sensitive imaging material, comprising on a lithographic base having a hydrophilic surface, a metallic layer or a metal oxide layer and on top thereof an oleophobic layer having a thickness of less than 5 .mu.m, on a print cylinder of a printing press;b. image-wise exposing said imaging material with an IR-laser;c. rotating said print cylinder while supplying an aqueous dampening liquid and/or ink to said image forming layer of said imaging material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 1, 1999
Date of Patent: May 30, 2000
    Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert, N.V.
Inventors: Guy Hauquier, Joan Vermeersch, Marc Van Damme, Inge Claes
  • Patent number: 6022667
Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a heat sensitive imaging element comprising a lithographic base with a hydrophilic surface, an image forming layer including a hydrophobic thermoplastic polymer latex and a compound capable of converting light into heat being present in said image forming layer or a layer adjacent thereto, characterized in that the heat-sensitive imaging element comprises a barrier layer between the lithographic base having a hydrophilic surface and the image forming layer, said barrier layer and said image forming layer being removable in an aqueous solution with a pH of at least 5.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 6, 1998
Date of Patent: February 8, 2000
    Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert, N.V.
