  • Patent number: 8349949
Abstract: Non cross-linked modifiers for thermoplastic alloys comprising from 20 to 80% by weight based on the modifier of an interpolymer of ethylene and an alpha-olefin having from 4 to 12 carbon atoms grafted with an acid functionality, preferably maleic anhydride, having a Melt Index of from 0.3 to 100 and a density of 0.85 to 0.91 prior to being grafted and from 80 to 20% by weight of an ungrafted diene containing interpolymer derived from ethylene and an alpha-olefin having from 3 to 12 carbon atoms and an amount of a cross-linking component effective to provide cross-linking during subsequent melt blending with a condensation polymer having a melting point of at least 150° C.

  • Patent number: 7915354
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a multimodal polymer composition comprising 45 to 75 wt % of a first polymer fraction, 25 to 55 wt % of a second polymer fraction, and from 10-50 phr of an extender oil. The multimodal polymer composition has an overall Mooney viscosity of less than 90 ML(1+4@125° C.), and each polymer fraction comprises an ethylene, C3-C10 alpha-olefin, non-conjugated diene polymer, wherein the first polymer fraction has a Mooney viscosity of greater than or equal to about 150 ML(1+4@125° C.), the second polymer fraction has a Mooney viscosity from about 20 to about 120 ML(1+4@125° C.). A process for making the multimodal polymer composition comprising a process utilizing two or more reactors in series is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7402628
Abstract: The invention relates to thermoplastic compositions in which (A) an isotactic polypropylene, optionally containing comonomer, with a melting point of at least 110° C. and (B) a polyamide, (A) and (B) constituting at least 70 wt %, are blended with (C) at least 2 wt % of a grafted functionalized propylene-based elastomer having isotactic crystallinity and containing at least 0.25 wt % of MAH-derived units based on the total weight of (C). Optionally (D) an ungrafted polyolefin may be added with a melting point of less than 100° C., (C) and (D) combined being at least 8 wt % and the wt % of (A), (B), (C) and (D) being calculated on the basis of the total polymer weight of the thermoplastic composition.
