    Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention include a system including: at least one computing device operably connected with a location on a power grid, the at least one computing device configured to control a power factor at the location on the power grid by performing actions including: determining a phase angle at the location on the power grid in degrees; converting the phase angle to radians from degrees; determining a reactive power exported at the location on the power grid based upon the phase angle in radians and an exported mega-watt measurement at the location on the power grid; and determining the power factor at the location on the power grid based upon the phase angle in radians and the reactive power exported at the location on the power grid.
