Publication number: 20220298666Abstract: A process for the making of metallic product with biocidal properties is disclosed, and first comprises anodizing a product having at least one metallic surface (e.g. aluminum, steel) using a controlled current density to form pores on the surfaces with controlled spatial density and depth. The process also comprises contacting the anodized metallic surfaces with a first biocidal solution before sealing the pores. Preferably, the metallic surfaces can be contacted again with the first biocidal solution after the sealing step. A method for reactivating biocidal properties of the metallic products is also disclosed, and comprises contacting again the biocidal product with a second biocidal solution. Preferably, the second solution is less concentrated than the first solution for safety sake. The invention provides a simpler, quicker, cheaper and improved process for treating or reactivating the metallic surfaces in order to obtain a metallic product having superior and enduring biocidal properties.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2022Publication date: September 22, 2022Applicant: A3 SURFACES INC.Inventors: Maxime DUMONT, Jocelyn LAMBERT, Guy LEBLANC, Martin LAMBERT, Michel LAVOIE, Jean-Pierre COLLARD, Myriam AUCLAIR-GILBERT, Simon GAGNON

Publication number: 20150156997Abstract: A trawling net with improved Cod-end for catching shrimps has an outer net having a uniform thread gauge, and which is knotted such that square-shaped openings are formed in a side-by-side uniform pattern. An inner net having a uniform thread gauge that is smaller than the outer net thread gauge, and which is knotted such that lozenge-shaped openings are formed in a side-by-side uniform pattern, wherein the lozenge-shaped openings are each formed having an area that is smaller than an area defined by each the square-shaped opening, and wherein the inner net is placed upon an inner surface of the outer net forming the improved trawling net, such that the trawling net is thereby adapted to catch smaller fish and marine life than the outer net alone.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2013Publication date: June 11, 2015Inventor: Guy Leblanc

Patent number: 6857464Abstract: An adjustable mold for direct chill casting of metals has longitudinally movable end walls which are clamped between the mold side walls during casting. Each end wall is secured to a sliding carriage which supports the end wall and allows it to be moved along the end portions of the side walls. The sliding suspender has a clamping mechanism which applies a clamping force to one or both of the side walls, the force being transversely directed through a center of the end wall. The side walls are pivotable relative to one another to allow clamping and unclamping of the end walls. Preferably, one end of each side wall is pivotable so as to transversely displace the opposite end of the side wall, with the pivoting ends of the respective side walls preferably being opposite one another across the mold.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2002Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignee: Hatch Associates Ltd.Inventors: Guy LeBlanc, Julien Lemieux, James P. Anson, Donald A. Wilson

Patent number: 5148856Abstract: An apparatus and process are described for continuously casting molten metal. The apparatus includes (a) an open-ended direct chill casting mould comprising a mould plate having an inner axially extending wall or walls defining a mould cavity, (b) coolant delivery aperture or apertures adjacent the mould cavity adapted to discharge a stream or streams of coolant inwardly in the direction of metal movement to impinge on an ingot being formed, and (c) deflector means for deflecting the coolant stream or streams in a variable direction dependent on the local shrinkage conditions of the ingot being formed such that the coolant impinges upon the ingot at a constant distance below the mould plate around the periphery of the ingot and preferably at a constant relative impingement angle. The deflector means is preferably a movable baffle having a deflector face contoured to impart the desired deflection pattern to the coolant stream.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1991Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Alcan International LimitedInventors: Friedrich P. Mueller, Guy LeBlanc

Patent number: 5033535Abstract: An apparatus for casting metal includes a mould for effecting solidification of the molten metal into a formed metal product, means adjacent to an inlet portion of the mould for feeding the molten metal into the mould and means for delivering a lubricating agent to a surface of the mould contacting the molten metal to substantially prevent adhesion of anyu solidfied metal on the mould surface. According to the novel feature, the lubricating agent delivery means comprises at least one lubricant delivery channel arranged generally parallel to the mould surface, inlet means for delivering a flow of lubricant under pressure into the delivery channel, a plurality of uniformly spaced restrictive flow passages extending across between the delivery channel and lubricant outlet holes adjacent the molten metal for delivery of lubricant to the mould surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1990Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Assignee: Alcan International LimitedInventors: Guy LeBlanc, Vincent J.
