  • Publication number: 20230335287
Abstract: Systems are described for measuring, recording, transmitting, accessing, and using an array of physical and physiological measurements that quantify states of complex adaptive systems, such as biological systems, more particularly the state is reflected in a metric designated health capacity. These measurements may be used, for example, for the pre-symptomatic detection and interception of disease states in a biological system. In one aspect, the system comprises a wearable device configured to measure, substantially simultaneously, an array of water-associated metrics, preferably at multiple loci on the biological system and as a function of time.

  • Publication number: 20210114692
Abstract: The vessels weight is wholly or partially supported by one or more fully or partially submerged hydrofoil(s). The amount of lift provided by said hydrofoil(s) is regulated as a function of that lift itself. External variables such as trim angle and vessel velocity affect total lift, and this system compensates for those variables to provide a regulated lift without the need to directly sense any of the external variables. A typical control system comprises one or more sensory inputs, a method to translate the input into a control output, and an actuator that turns the outputs into actual movements. The only sensory input for this system is the same lifting force that is being regulated. The mechanical arrangement translates that lifting force into movements that produce negative feedback by varying the angle of attack of the hydrofoil, which in turn regulates the lift produced.

  • Patent number: 8849709
Abstract: An information system environment is described that, among other things, facilitates integration of electronic commerce and physical store front retailer selling channels. In some realizations, the system includes a shopper accessible kiosk co-located with a physical store front retailer and an electronic commerce information service accessible from locations external to the physical store front retailer. Both access inventory information supplied from a suitable information service. The shopper accessible kiosk allows a user thereof to access inventory information particular to the physical store front retailer, while the electronic commerce information service allows a user thereof to order items from out of stock of the physical store front retailer.

  • Patent number: 7870052
Abstract: A computer system, which may comprise a processor, a memory and a database, may implement a loss surface determining software module that forecasts a portfolio's loss surface. Daily loss histories may be collected from actual data or may be generated using a factor model. A model may generate a sequence of iid high frequency loss innovations that can be temporally aggregated with a Fourier transform. For each portfolio, the loss surface may be forecasted and 95% and 99% value-at-risk and expected shortfall forecasts may be derived for various time horizons.
