  • Publication number: 20100052232
Abstract: Friction device includes at least two members, one of which is mobile, or potentially mobile, in terms of relative displacement with respect to the other under the action of an external stimulus. The relative displacement is liable to cause the relative displacement of two friction surfaces subjected to pressing forces, so as to convert the external stimulus into a friction force and to thus control the displacement of the mobile or potentially mobile member. The pressing forces are produced by pre-stressing mechanisms and the members are able to act on the effects of the pre-stressing mechanisms so as to use the resultant effect of the relative displacement of the mobile or potentially mobile member to reduce the pressing forces.

  • Publication number: 20080035438
Abstract: The invention relates to a damping device with power-assisted deceleration, which is intended to be used in the field of hydraulic shock dampers. The invention includes a sealed body filled with a hydraulic fluid and a piston mounted in the sealed body. The piston is connected to a rod axially movable outside the body. The rod and the body are arranged such that, while one is solidly connected to a support, an impact in relation to the other causes axial movement of the piston and compression of the fluid in a chamber. The invention also includes a flow mechanism for the hydraulic fluid to be released from the chamber and an element which can move axially inside the body to form a check valve that can seal the flow mechanism when pushed back in the opposite direction to that of the impact by an elastic device.

  • Patent number: 6209461
Abstract: The present invention relates to a non-lethal projectile. The projectile (1) comprises a longitudinal body (5) having internally a longitudinal striker (55) suitable for perforating a container (47) of fluid under pressure in controlled manner, in particular by impact of the projectile (1) on a target. The striker (55) has an internal passage (59) opening to the outside of the body (5) via channels (60) made through a rigid wall (35) secured to the body (5) such that the outlet offered to the fluid under pressure remains disengaged even if the impact is accompanied by the deformation of the container (47). The fluid contained in the container (47) can thus escape and spread over the target even in such a case.
