The stream receiving unit is configured to receive multiplexed stream of video stream and signaling information describing the video stream. The demultiplexing unit is configured to demultiplex the received stream to video stream and signaling information. The decoding unit is configured to decode the demultiplexed video stream by using the signaling information. The signaling information includes stream type information on the video stream providing stereoscopic service and service type information, which indicates whether the service type according to the video stream is 2D monoscopic service or 3D stereoscopic service.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing a plurality of transport interactive 3DTV broadcasting services in the provision of higher definition 3D video service and 3D data service, while maintaining the compatibility with the existing digital TV broadcasts or 3DTV services. To this end, an input 3D video is encoded to generate a 3D additional video base stream and a 3D additional video enhanced stream. Engineer information for defining engineers, which includes 3D broadcasting service configuration information, is generated, and then an encoded 2D base video stream, an encoded audio stream, the encoded 3D additional video base stream and the engineer information are multiplexed and transmitted via a base layer. The 3D additional video enhanced stream is multiplexed and transmitted via an enhanced layer.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving reference image data and 3D additional image data in 3D image data so as to provide a 3D image in a digital broadcasting system. In the method, a basic image and a 3D additional image in a 3D image of a 3D broadcasting service is processed in a stereoscopic image format of one of a side-by-side method and a top-down method. The basic image and the 3D additional image processed in the stereoscopic image format are encoded to a basic image stream and a 3D additional image stream. The encoded basic image stream and the encoded 3D additional image stream are multiplexed to a 3D image stream of a single stream using a dual stream method, and the multiplexed 3D image stream is then transmitted.
