    Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for high-efficiency wireless frequency division multiplexing are provided. A method includes determining, at an access point, a performance characteristic for each wireless device in a set of wireless devices associated with the access point. The method further includes categorizing each wireless device in the set into at least a first and second subset of wireless devices based on the performance characteristic. The method further includes receiving communications from the first subset of wireless devices on a first set of wireless frequencies. The method further includes receiving communications from the second subset of wireless devices on a second set of wireless frequencies, the second set of wireless frequencies being a subset of the first. The first set of wireless devices have a higher performance characteristic than the second set of wireless devices.

The first device determines a transmission link condition for transmitting at least one frame to a second device, the transmission link condition affecting interference received by the second device from a hidden node when the second device is receiving the at least one frame. The first device also determines whether the transmission link condition satisfies a predetermined criterion. The first device further enables a hidden node protection procedure when the transmission link condition satisfy the predetermined criterion, the hidden node protection procedure reserving a medium used for transmitting the at least one frame to protect reception at the second device from the interference caused by the hidden node.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A wireless node may detect and resolve collisions in reduced version of basic service set identifiers (BSSIDs). The collisions may be the result of multiple basic service sets (BSSs) using the same values for reduced versions of BSSIDs. For example, the BSSs may use the same value for X-bit color indicators which results in a color collision if the BSSs are neighbor BSSs. When such a scenario occurs, the node may detect the collision by referencing reduced version BSSID information from broadcasts or backhaul communications with one of the involved BSSs. Alternatively, the node may determine that frames from two different BSSs include the same color bits. The node may resolve the detected color collision by triggering a change in the reduced version BSSID for one of the involved BSSs.

A network may employ additional contention based parameters to support MU transmissions and to communicate to other devices a duration that protects MU transmission. For example, a first device may transmit a first message to reserve a subband of shared spectrum. The first message may be addressed to multiple devices and may indicate a channel access deferral duration to other devices within transmission range. The non-addressed devices may refrain from accessing the channel for an indicated duration. The addressed devices that receive the first message may respond to the first message with a second message, which may also be used to reserve the channel. The second message may additionally be used to identify those devices that received the first message. The first device may generate a trigger message based on the received second messages.
