  • Patent number: 5746614
Abstract: A card edge connector (10) includes an insulative housing (12) defining an elongated channel (14) for receiving a card therein. A pair of tower sections (22) are portioned on two opposite ends of the housing (12), and each defines a cavity for receiving therein an ejector (28) wherein each ejector (28) has a main body (36) with an elongated slots (42) extending along almost the whole lengthwise dimension of the main body (36) except the handle (40), and substantially therethrough in a lateral direction thereof so as to provide a good resiliency of the main body (36). A pair of retention protrusions (32) are respectively positioned on two sides of the main body (36) wherein the retention protrusion generally positioned about the middle point of the slot (42), is large enough to resist wear so that the ejector (28) can be easily rotatably moved with regard to the housing (12) while still keeping good retention function with the housing (12) when it is in a vertical position.

  • Patent number: 5584725
Abstract: An electrical connector (10) includes insulative elongated housing (12) and a plurality of contacts therein to electrically and mechanically connect a daughter board inserted in such connector (10) to a mother board (40) on which the connector (10) is seated. A pair of cavities (24) extend upwardly from a bottom surface (22) of the housing (12) proximate two opposite ends, in which a pair of corresponding posts (30) are installed. Each post (30) includes an upper retaining portion (32) embedded in such corresponding cavity (24) and a lower mounting portion (34) extending downwardly from the retaining portion (32) and adapted to be received within the corresponding hole (42) in the mother board (40). The mounting portion (34) of each post (30) has a cross-section of a circle without a segment wherein a secant of such segment of one post is designedly opposite to that of another post (30).

  • Patent number: 5401182
Abstract: A contact (10) comprising a planar conductor having an elongated base (12) with two opposite spaced ends (14, 16). A pair of contact beams (18, 20) respectively extend from a common position spaced from a first end (14) in a distance of generally one third of the whole length of the base (12). A high beam (18) of such pair of contact beams (18, 20) generally extends upward and slightly inclined to the first end. A generally U-shaped section (22) is positioned at the top of the high beam (18) wherein such U-shaped section (22) is dimensioned to be generally a half of the vertical dimension of the whole high beam (18). A low beam (20) of such pair of contact beams (18, 20) generally extends horizontally to the second end (16) of the base (12). A generally C-shaped section (24) is backward positioned at the free end of the low beam (20) wherein such C-shaped section (24) is dimensioned to be generally a half of the horizontal dimension of the whole low beam (20).

  • Patent number: 5326288
Abstract: A female contact (5) comprises a forward contact section (50), a middle retention section (53) and a rearward tail (54). The contact section (50) includes a front generally C-shaped ring (51) at the front end, a rear generally C-shaped ring (52) at the rear end, and three inwardly curved beams (50A, 50B, 50C) bowed to each other intermediate two rings (51, 52). The base beam (50A) is integrally aligned with the retention section (53), and the two auxiliary beam (50B, 50C) are symmetrically positioned in relation to an imaginary plane vertically extending from the base beam (50A). Each beam (50A, 50B, 50C) has expanded portions approximate the front ring (51), the rear ring (52) and the engaging region (500A, 500B, 500C).

  • Patent number: 5256088
Abstract: A female contact (40) is formed by a plate and has a contact section (46) in the front, a retention section (44) in the midst and a biased tail (45) in the rear. The contact section (46) includes a front ring (41) and a rear ring (42) positioned at two opposite ends thereof, and three beams (431, 432, 433) spaced apart from and parallel to each other, and integrally connected between the front ring (41) and the rear ring (42), respectively. These three beams (431, 432, 433), including a base beam (432) and a pair of auxiliary beams (431, 433) positioned above the base beam (432) within an appropriate angle range relative to the vertical line (L1) of the base beam (432), are inward bowed to each other proximate the middle portion wherein each beam (431, 432, 433) has itself an identical width along its length while the width of the base beam (432) is relatively larger than that of the auxiliary beams (431, 433).
