When the actual distance between the user equipment devices conforms with the distance defined in the policy, one or more network nodes serving one of the user equipment devices can be assigned to replace a network node serving the other user equipment device to prevent abuse of the end user's subscription or to optimize performance, so as to consolidate service.

    Abstract: In a mobile network comprising a plurality of base stations and a gateway, a user equipment may perform a handover from a source base station to a target base station. By control signalling, the handover may be notified from the target base station to a control node of the mobile network and then to the gateway so that the gateway may switch to a data path which connects the target base station and the gateway. The notification of the handover may be delayed at the target base station or at the control node, by starting a timer and sending the control signalling for initiating the path switching after expiry of the timer.

This abuse can be prevented by the present invention in that the network access is controlled according to a policy defined for the plurality of electronic devices operating under the same subscription. In particular, the policy defines a threshold distance between a primary electronic device and each additional electronic device belonging to said plurality of electronic devices operating under the same subscription which specifies the maximum distance from the primary electronic device which still allows to gain access to the network.
