  • Patent number: 8300598
Abstract: A method of performing handover in a mobile communication network, a mobile communication terminal using the same, and a mobile network system are provided. The method of performing handover in a mobile communication network includes: receiving QoS requirement on a mobile service basis from a user terminal; determining a most suitable mobile network to QoS requirement of a mobile service as a network for handover; and requesting handover to a base station of a mobile network determined as a network for handover. Therefore, in consideration of characteristics of a mobile network and a quality of a service used by a user, by determining handover to an optimum mobile network on a service quality basis, service interruption due to performing unnecessary handover can be prevented and by effectively distributing traffic of a mobile network, overload of a system can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20120155306
Abstract: A base station measures an amount of traffic within a downlink buffer. If the measured amount of traffic is larger than a threshold value, the base station adjusts a ratio of an available interval and an unavailable interval according to a ratio of the amount of traffic against the threshold value and length of a superframe. If the measured amount of traffic is smaller than the threshold value, the base station adjusts a ratio of the available interval and the unavailable interval according to a ratio of the threshold value against the amount of traffic and length of the superframe.

  • Publication number: 20120120794
Abstract: A method for controlling traffic in a mobile communication network is provided. A traffic control apparatus checks locations of a calling terminal and a receiving terminal, and determines whether to perform terminal-to-terminal direct communication based on the locations of the calling terminal and the receiving terminal. A base station of the calling terminal and a base station of the receiving terminal instruct the calling terminal and the receiving terminal to perform the terminal-to-terminal direct communication when the terminal-to-terminal direct communication is determined to be performed.

  • Patent number: 7689001
Abstract: The present invention relates to a location recognition device for recognizing a location by a mobile terminal having a camera and a method thereof. In the above method, the location recognition device photographs a location recognition tag storing location recognition information, and measures a distance to the location recognition tag. Subsequently, the location recognition device analyzes an image of the photographed location recognition tag, and recognizes location information corresponding to the location recognition tag and direction information of the photographed location recognition tag. Accordingly, a location of the mobile terminal is measured by using information of the measured distance and the recognized location information and direction information. In this case, an absolute location coordinate or a logic location coordinate is stored in the location recognition tag.

  • Publication number: 20090156221
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for performing handover in a mobile communication network are provided. The method of performing handover in a mobile communication network includes: obtaining a service providing time period and a utility function on a candidate network basis; obtaining a selection function of each of the candidate networks using the utility function and the service providing time period; and selecting a network for handover among the plurality of mobile networks using the selection function. Therefore, in consideration of user satisfaction and a network service quality, utility functions are defined and by selecting a network for handover using the utility functions, a network suitable for a user environment can be effectively selected and thus it is possible to perform handover that has a performance and a cost suitable for user request and that can maximize a quality of a mobile service.

  • Publication number: 20070124438
Abstract: The present invention relates to a service registration, control, and brokering method in an IMS-based communication system, and a system using the same. In the case that a user moving to a visited network from a home network wants to receive local service in the visited network, the user checks whether the user can receive the local service in the visited network through the home network. If it is possible, a serving call state control function (S-CSCF) that handles service control in the visited network performs local service control upon a user's request and provides the corresponding local service to the user. Accordingly, the user can be more efficiently provided with local services through the S-CSCF that handles the service control of the visited network. In addition, the visited network can provide the user with services that are adapted to a profile of the user.

  • Publication number: 20070113249
Abstract: A context information management system provides service mobility that allows user to maintain service even while moving the service environment. That is, when user service environment movement is sensed, user service provided in previous service environment is consecutively provided to the user in the new service environment using the service context information of user service provided in the previous service environment. In such a manner, the service user may continuously use a same service that used in the previous service environment although the user moves to other service environments without a service terminal.
