  • Publication number: 20150322359
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of preparing biodiesel, including the steps of: removing foreign materials from biodiesel raw oil containing lower fatty acid and having an acid value of 20 mgKOH/g or less with an adsorbent; dewatering the foreign materials removed biodiesel raw oil; passing the dewatered biodiesel raw oil through a solid acid catalyst reaction guard bed provided with a cation exchange resin for removing metal cations at 20˜80° C. at a flow rate of 6 vol % (6 SV) or less, mixing methanol with the passed biodiesel raw oil, and then passing the mixture through a solid acid catalyst reaction main bed provided with a solid acid catalyst for an esterification reaction at 70˜120° C. at a flow rate of 0.5˜1.5 SV to adjust a final acid value of the biodiesel raw oil to 5 mgKOH/g or less; and reacting the biodiesel raw oil having the final acid value of 5 mgKOH/g or less in the presence of an alkali catalyst.

  • Patent number: 8795994
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing biofuel, more specifically a method of producing biofuel comprising the steps of generating monosugars from marine algae, or from polysaccharides extracted from marine algae by treating the marine algae or the polysaccharides with a hydrolytic enzyme and/or a hydrolytic catalyst; and fermenting the monosugars using a microorganism to produce biofuel. The method of producing biofuel of the present invention solve the problem of raw material suppliance since it uses marine algae as a raw material for biomass, and reduce the production costs by excluding lignin eliminating process that has been required by the conventional method using wood-based raw materials, resulting in economic and environmental advantages.

  • Patent number: 8431187
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of producing a filter medium for treating medium and high temperature exhaust gas using foam coating and a filter medium produced using the method. The filter medium has excellent heat resistance and heat contraction resistance, and exhibits partial dust collection efficiency of 99% or more by weight, total dust collection efficiency of 99.999% or more by weight, and high dust removal efficiency, for all dust particle sizes. Further, the filter media can be efficiently used to treat medium and high temperature exhaust gas because pores having an average pore size of 30 ?m or less are uniformly distributed on the surface of the filter media.

  • Publication number: 20090247655
Abstract: A method for preparing permanently hydrophobic aerogel and permanently hydrophobic aerogel prepared by the method. The method comprises adding sodium silicate to HCl at 30 to 90° C. until an acidity reaches pH 3-5, to form silica hydrogel under acidic conditions of pH 3-5, washing the silica hydrogel with distilled water using a mixer, followed by filtering, adding the silica hydrogel to a silylating solution of silylating agent in n-butanol at pH 1-5 using an acid selected from hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and nitric acid, to simultaneously conduct silylation and solvent replacement, and drying the silica hydrogel; The method has the following advantages; i) silylation and solvent replacement can be simultaneously conducted, ii) n-butanol is used as a reaction solvent instead of methanol upon silylation, thus obtaining a thermal conductivity comparable to conventional aerogel powders, iii) silylation is conducted under improved conditions, i.e.
