  • Publication number: 20020181477
Abstract: A system of route target filtering includes an import filter receiving a plurality of routes having a next hop routing information. The import filter accepts a first subset of the routes according to an import target policy. The system further includes a re-export filter also receiving the plurality of routes. The re-export filter modifies the next hop information of a second subset of the routes, and distributes the modified routes.

  • Patent number: 6416859
Abstract: Polymeric compositions include a nonaqueous additive system having dispersant-coated pigments physically dispersed in a liquid nonaqueous polymeric carrier which may be added directly to a melt flow of a polymeric host material. The additive system employed in the polymeric systems is most preferably in the form of a particulate paste which can be added in metered amounts (dosed) to a melt flow of the polymeric host material prior to being spun into filaments. By providing a number of additive systems having a number of different additive attributes, and controllably dosing one or more into the melt flow of host polymeric material, shaped objects of the polymeric material (e.g., melt-spun filaments) having different additive attributes may be produced on a continuous basis without shutting down the shaping operation.

  • Patent number: 6392007
Abstract: At least two different liquid streams are sub-divided into a dense plurality of individually separated parallel pixels oriented in respective misregistered arrays. Therefore, an individual pixel of one of the liquid stream arrays will be surrounded by pixels of the other liquid stream array. These individual pixel arrays are then bought into contact with one another to form a multi-pixel liquid stream comprised of the misregistered pixel arrays of the two different liquid streams. The “pixelated” liquid stream—that is, the liquid stream containing in cross-section the misregistered pixel arrays of the two different liquid streams—may then be further processed. For example, the pixelated liquid stream may be subjected to further mixing by being directed along a tortuous flow path.

  • Publication number: 20020018731
Abstract: The connection, assembly, or fill of two or more pre-sterilized components having at least one terminal end each for attachment to another component, and an apparatus for performing such a connection, while maintaining the sterility of the components is disclosed. The resulting connection is made permanent by bonding the contacting components together using either a solvent bonding technique, a radio frequency sealer, a heat sealer, or any other suitable process. The connection is preferably made within an active sterile field. Using a low-voltage electron beam instrument, such as the MIN-EB™, a suitable sterile field sphere can be created. The terminal ends of the multiple components remain within the sterile field sphere until the possibility of contamination within the sealed components is significantly reduced to industry acceptable standards.

  • Patent number: 5833893
Abstract: Methods of continuously producing sequential lengths of different additive-containing melt-spun filaments include continuously supplying a melt-spinnable polymeric host material to orifices of a spinneret and controllably dosing at least one dispersible additive concentrate system containing a pigment in a liquid nonaqueous polymeric carrier to the melt flow of polymeric host material upstream of the spinneret orifices. In such a manner, a first polymeric mixture of the dispersible additive concentrate system and the polymeric host material is obtained which achieves an additive attribute. During a first time interval, the first mixture is extruded through the spinneret orifices; and thereafter, during a second subsequent time interval, the dosing of the at least one dispersible additive is changed so as to form a second mixture having a second additive attribute different from the first additive attribute while continuously supplying the melt flow of polymeric host material to the spinneret orifices.

  • Patent number: 5653889
Abstract: A filter element surface is coated with particulate polyamide which serves as a filter aid to trap polyamide oligomers suspended in water. The particulate polyamide is preferably coated onto a surface of a bag filter so that polyamide oligomers flowing through the coated bag filter surface will adhere to the polyamide particles forming an oligomer cake thereon which encapsulates the polyamide particles. Momentarily equalling the pressure differential across, or reversing flow through, the coated bag filter surface (i.e., back-pulsing) will cause the oligomer cake and polyamide particles encapsulated thereby to break into relatively large-sized solid aggregate particles which may be easily recovered. Since the polyamide particles which are encapsulated by the oligomer cake are chemically compatible with one another, the entire particulate aggregate may be subjected to depolymerization processing so as to recover monomers from which the polyamide is formed (e.g., caprolactam).

  • Patent number: 5125919
Abstract: A wedge-shaped access port for a flexible container is described. The flexible container is formed of at least one or more sheets of material which are sealed together about the edges to form a cavity. The wedge-shaped port is sealed to the container so that a base of the wedge is exterior to the cavity and a thin edge of the wedge is located inside the cavity. An orifice in the port provides a passageway from the base of the wedge to the cavity. The wedge shape of the port allows sealing of the port to container with minimal stress or thinning of material at the seal between the port and the container.

  • Patent number: 4999081
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting and heat sealing a pair of overlying heat-sealable panels together comprises a conveyer for moving a pair of superimposed webs of panel material along a linear path and into a cutting and sealing station. A combined cutting and sealing die assembly includes a cutting die for cutting the panels out of the webs and a sealing die for sealing peripheral edges of the superimposed panels together. A heater element is mounted on each of the dies to heat them to their respective cutting and sealing temperatures with the dies being thermally insulated to prevent heat transfer therebetween. A plurality of spring clips attach the dies together to permit thermal expansion of the cutting die relative to the sealing die.

  • Patent number: 4721491
Abstract: An inflation valve, adapted for sealed attachment within a stem of a balloon, includes a valve body defining a longitudinal passage for receiving a fill tube therein, such as a straw. Insertion of an open distal end of the fill tube to a first position within the passage will facilitate communication of a pressurized fluid, such as air or helium, through a fill port defined in the valve body and into the inflation chamber of the balloon. After filling, the fill tube is moved axially forwardly to a second position for sealing-off communication of the open distal end of the fill tube with the fill port.

  • Patent number: 4545844
Abstract: An apparatus for forming an article out of superimposed heat-sealable panels comprises a conveyor for moving a pair of superimposed webs along a path and into a cutting and sealing station whereat the panels are cut out of the webs and simultaneously heat-sealed together. The simultaneous cutting and sealing steps are effected by a unitary die having a cutting die that is heated to a predetermined cutting temperature and a sealing die that is heated to a predetermined sealing temperature that is substantially lower than the cutting temperature. The apparatus also includes steering means for automatically shifting a belt of the conveyor to maintain it in proper alignment and a scrap removal station for removing the web after the cutting and sealing operation.
