  • Patent number: 10382469
Abstract: Systems and methods of identifying a security risk by monitoring and generating alerts based on attempts to access web domains that have been registered within a short period of time and are therefore identified as “high-risk,” including identifying an attempt to access a domain; receiving a registration date of the domain; and detecting a security risk based on the registration date of the domain.

    Filed: July 22, 2015
Date of Patent: August 13, 2019
    Assignee: Rapid7, Inc.

  • Patent number: 8875296
Abstract: A security tool can utilize a vulnerability in a computing system or credentials for the computing system to gain access to the computing system. Once access is gained, the security tool can deliver an agent to the computing system. The agent can execute, detected or undetected, on the computing system in order to establish a network link between the computing system and the security tool. Once established, the security tool creates a virtual network interface on the computing system on which it is running and instructs the agent to relay network traffic between the virtual network interface of the computing system executing the security tool and the existing network interfaces of computing system executing the agent.

  • Publication number: 20110191854
Abstract: A security tool can identify vulnerabilities in a computing system and determine a risk level of the vulnerabilities. The security tool can determine the risk level based on exploits associated with the vulnerabilities. The security tool can determine the risk level based on factors associated with the exploits such as whether an exploit exists, a rank of the exploit, a number of exploits that exist for the vulnerability, a difficulty to identify whether the exploit exists, and an effect of the exploit on the vulnerability. The security tool can a report identifying the vulnerabilities of the computing system, the exploits associated with the vulnerabilities, and the risk level of the vulnerabilities. The report can also include links to information about the exploits.

  • Publication number: 20070226483
Abstract: A method of encoding network packets for storage and later transmitting emulated packets includes determining a protocol for the packet and validating the protocol as belonging to a list of recognized protocols. Upon validating the packet, a protocol attribute value from the packet is parsed and a dictionary is referenced using the protocol attribute value to obtain a binary encoding, which is stored as an encoded packet. The packet, for example, may be an HTTP protocol request packet and parsing may include parsing a TYPE attribute value where the TYPE attribute value indicates whether the packet is a GET, POST, PUT or OTHER type of HTTP request. The method may further include modifying environmental data in the packet when the packet is later generated for transmission on a network. The method may further include, for packets of unrecognized protocols, learning and creating an encoding for new protocols.
