The frame may include a plurality of through holes corresponding to the plurality of outsole projections. The plurality of outsole projections may extend through the plurality of through holes so as to form a ground contacting surface. The plurality of outsole projections may also be provided in a symmetrical pattern. The sole assembly may be secured to the frame by a self-locking fit between the sole assembly and the frame.

    Abstract: A splinting device includes a first part for contacting a lower leg and a second part for contacting a foot hingedly connected to the first part. An adjustable attachment includes an elastic part and interconnects the first part and the second part. A method of treating plantar fasciitis includes securing the first part of the splint device to the lower leg, and securing the second part to a foot. The first part is rotated relative to the second part to establish a predetermined angle between the first part and the second part. The elastic part of the adjustable attachment, which is attached to one of the first and second parts, is stretched and attached to the other of the first part of the second part at a position based on the predetermined angle to limit movement of the first part relative to the second part beyond the predetermined angle.

    Abstract: A novel lower leg, ankle and foot immobilization brace in the form of a short length leg walker. The walker provides controlled, uniform compression of the foot, ankle and leg, while at the same time immobilizing the lower leg and foot. The immobilization walker has a shock absorbing sole, a rigid immobilization plate designed to prevent movement in a patient's ankle and foot, and a flexible boot portion designed to comfortably fit around the patient's foot and lower leg. The immobilization plate and a semi-flexible upper portion effectively immobilize the foot and ankle, while eliminating the need for a rigid boot portion. Two shock absorbing insoles, one of soft density and a one of medium density, allow a portion of the walker's sole to be located within the boot portion.

    Abstract: The highly stretchable, seamless sock conforms to the underlying portion of the body when donned so that there are no undesirable wrinkles or thicknesses in fabric (e.g., ribs, seams, etc) which might cause focal pressure on the foot or leg. The sock comprises a receptacle having an open upper end an opposite, closed toe end. The receptacle includes a toe section that projects from the toe end and is configured to receive the toes of the wearer, a leg section that is adjacent the leg end and is dimensioned to receive at least a portion of the leg of the wearer, a foot section extending between the leg section and toe section of the receptacle, and a heel section extending partly around the circumference of the receptacle between the foot and leg sections. These sections of the receptacle are knitted of a common high-stretch corespun yarn and are configured to cause the yarn to stretch when the sock is donned.

Spaced closures spanning the open front boot apply gentle and focal compression to the foam liner encased limb. Appropriate elongated ventilation ports within the foam liner overlap a plurality of spaced ventilation ports in the boot to facilitate cooling air flow directly from the boot exterior to the skin of the user's limb encased by the foam liner.
