  • Patent number: 5454755
Abstract: A ventilator for slider type windows is provided, the ventilator having triangular end members and one or more bridging members extending therebetween. The ventilator is positionable between fixed and movable portions of the window and deflects incoming air upwardly or to the side. Each bridging member is provided with a pair of rib portions, each having a partially enclosed slot running the length thereof. Each end member has a slot adapted to receive the end face of a bridging member and has a pair of holes extending therethrough in alignment with the corresponding slots of the bridging member received therein. A screw extends through each hole and is threaded into the adjacent bridging member slot to secure the bridging member to the end member. The ventilator is particularly useful with combination storm and screen windows or doors. The ventilator can be packaged with all components flat and can be assembled and disassembled with ease.

  • Patent number: 5259076
Abstract: A device for use in winterizing inground swimming pools avoids the necessity of draining the pool in order to drain underground water-filled conduits before freeze-up. The device is an elongated cofferdam open at top and rear with a groove for receiving a sealant extending along the rear edge of side and bottom walls. The sealant, such as a denture adhesive, will hold the device against the pool side wall surrounding a water inlet, and so that the device opens above the water surface. Water within the device and the conduit leading to the inlet is pumped therefrom and then a plug is inserted in the inlet to prevent pool water from entering the inlet after the device is removed from the pool side wall.

  • Patent number: 5249314
Abstract: The invention provides a device for reducing the volume of water flushed from a water closet. A rectilinear container has front, rear, side and bottom walls. An elongated suspension member has a hook at an upper end thereof for engaging the rim of the water closet and at its lower end it can engage bearing means on one of the rear or side walls of the container to suspend the container within the water closet. The volume of the container can be adjusted since one of the front or side walls has a lower fixed portion and an upper sliding portion, the sliding portion being vertically slidable relative to the fixed portion. The normal flush volume of the water closet is reduce by the volume of the container, thereby saving water.
