  • Patent number: 11852145
Abstract: Systems and methods are used to control operation of a rotary compressor of a refrigeration system to improve efficiency by varying the volume ratio and the speed of the compressor in response to current operating and load conditions. The volume of the axial and/or radial discharge ports of the compressor can be varied to provide a volume ratio corresponding to operating conditions. In addition, permanent magnet motors and/or control of rotor tip speed can be employed for further efficiency gains.

  • Patent number: 11852150
Abstract: A heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) system includes a compressor with a gas bearing supplied with compressed gas and a controller. The controller is configured to determine an inlet pressure and outlet pressure of the gas bearing, determine a maximum speed limit based on the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure, and prevent the compressor from operating at a speed that is greater than the maximum speed limit. A method of controlling a compressor includes calculating a maximum speed limit based on an inlet pressure and an outlet pressure of the gas bearing. The method also includes in response to determining that a speed setting is greater than the maximum speed limit, adjusting operation of the compressor such that a speed of the compressor is at or below the maximum speed limit.

  • Patent number: 11836806
Abstract: A claim-based capitation model is proposed for handling vehicle repair insurance claims. Rather than determining a detailed estimate of the expected actual cost of repair, the estimate may be determined using a simpler model. For example, the insurance company and a repair facility may agree to following a predictive payment model in which the insurance company pays a fixed predicted capitated amount of money for each repair claim, regardless of the amount of repair work that will be needed. Alternatively, the insurance company may pre-pay a fixed capitated amount for a predicted number of future insurance claims.

  • Patent number: 11835340
Abstract: Systems and techniques for navigation in a GPS-denied environment that do not rely on locations of known points. Instead, the operator can measure distance and/or inclination as well as azimuth to arbitrary points on the visual horizon (or sub-horizon) from their location. These observations can then be compared to precomputed distances and inclinations for corresponding azimuths to the visual horizon of a grid of points based on known surface terrain data. The closest grid point to the observer's location obtained in this way can be refined using a model of the surrounding environment, allowing for the operators position to be quickly and accurately determined.

  • Publication number: 20230334589
Abstract: Systems and methods provide for an automated system for analyzing damage to process claims and pre-claim consultations associated with an insured item, such as a vehicle. An enhanced claims processing server may analyze damage associated with the insured item using photos/video transmitted to the server from a user device (e.g., a mobile device). The mobile device may receive feedback from the server regarding the acceptability of submitted photos/video, and if the server determines that any of the submitted photos/video is unacceptable, the mobile device may capture additional photos/video until all of the data are deemed acceptable. In addition, the server may interface with third party entities such as repair shops and may generate a payment for compensating a claimant for repair of the insured item.

  • Publication number: 20230284567
Abstract: A grain management system includes a robot and a computer system located remotely from one another and configured to wirelessly communicate. The robot comprises an auger-based drive system, a memory, and a processor which controls movement of the robot, via the drive system, relative to grain in a bulk store. During a load-in the robot traverses a landing zone portion, where the grain lands during load-in, of a surface of a pile of the grain to disperse broken grain and foreign material away from the landing zone portion. The dispersal is effected in part by rotation of augers of the drive system. The robot additionally traverses a sloped portion of the pile of grain to incite sediment gravity flow by rotation of the augers. The sediment gravity flow reduces a slope of the sloped portion and further disperses the broken grain and foreign material away from the landing zone portion.

  • Publication number: 20230277990
Abstract: A robot comprises an auger-based drive system, a memory, and a processor coupled with the memory and configured to control movement of the robot, via the auger-based drive system, relative to grain in a grain bin. The processor is further configured to direct traversal, by the robot, of a landing zone portion of a surface of a pile of the grain during load-in of the grain to disperse broken grain and foreign material away from the landing zone portion. The landing zone portion is located in a center of the grain bin where the grain lands as it is augured into the grain bin during load-in. The dispersal is affected in part by rotation of augers of the auger-based drive system.
