Abstract: Method and fairing to be attached to a cable of a seismic survey system for reducing drag and/or noise. The fairing includes a body having a hydrodynamic shape; a tail portion connected to the body; and a head portion connected to the body, opposite to the tail portion, and configured to be removably clamped-on to the cable. The head portion, the body and the tail portion extend in this order along a traveling direction.

Abstract: Various methods preserve or restore the low roughness throughout an outer shell of a device (e.g., a streamer) used underwater for seismic surveys, by applying various substances that fill micro-cracks, are easy to polish or are self-healing. Apparatuses used to implement these methods may be used shortly before the devices are deployed in water, for example, having the device passing through such an apparatus as it is moved to be deployed in water.

Abstract: Methods related to controlling a source array while performing a seismic survey to achieve an intended source signature. A current three dimensional arrangement of the individual seismic sources is compared with a target 3D arrangement. In view of the comparison, position of at least one of the individual seismic sources is adjusted so that the adjusted 3D arrangement of the individual seismic sources to substantially match the target 3D arrangement.

Abstract: A streamer usable underwater for a marine seismic survey has a portion adjacent to a protuberance covered by an adhesive antifouling tape or substrate. The tape, which may be made of copper or copper alloy is configured to be fast fastened, may be applied when the streamer is deployed and may be covered by a protective jacket during recovery.

Abstract: A bird for a streamer or source of marine seismic survey system has a body configured to be attached to the streamer or source, and a wing connected to the body and having an active surface used to control depth and/or lateral position of the body. The wing is configured to be changed between an operational state in which the active surface is extended away from the body, and a folded state in which the active surface is folded close to the body.

Abstract: Method and streamer/source head-float system for connecting to a head portion of a streamer or to a lead-in or providing information about a source. The system includes a head-buoy configured to float in water and connected through a cable to the head portion of the streamer or to the lead-in; a head-float configured to float in water; a connector connecting the head-float to the head-buoy; and positioning equipment attached to the head-float and configured to determine a position of the streamer or the source.

Abstract: A sensor probe system for measuring a signature of a marine seismic source array, the system including a base-mounted part attached to a base; a sensor probe configured to sink toward ocean bottom when released in water, wherein the sensor probe includes a signature sensor for measuring the signature of the source array; and a cable connecting the sensor probe to the base-mounted part so that the sensor probe is retrievable. A portion of the cable is wound in the base-mounted part and a remaining part of the cable is wound on a tail of the sensor probe prior to launch.

Abstract: A marine acoustic source system for generating an acoustic wave in a body of water. The marine acoustic source system includes a first marine acoustic source array having first and second external source sub-arrays, each sub-array including one or more individual source elements; a first actuator device connected to the first external source sub-array; and a first rope connecting the first actuator device to a first lead-in that is configured to connect to a head of a streamer. The first actuator device is configured to control a length of the first rope in order to control a position of the first source array relative to the streamer.
