  • Publication number: 20030153722
Abstract: The present invention contemplates poly(aminoamide) pre-polymers, polyamide polymers, a multi-step process for the synthesis of these pre-polymers and polymers using acrylates and at least one monomer containing at least two primary amines, and the resins resulting from the reaction of the polymers with an epihalohydrin. These resins may be used as wet strength resins and creping aids in the papermaking industry as well as surface additives for wool.

  • Patent number: 6433161
Abstract: Galactosylated hydroxyalkyl polysaccharides wherein galactose moieties are bound to the hydroxyalkyl polysaccharide by galactosidic bonds, and a process for preparing the galactosylated hydroxyalkyl polysaccharides having the steps: a) providing at least one hydroxyalkyl polysaccharide; and b) treating said hydroxyalkyl polysaccharide with a galactose donor in the presence of galactosidase enzyme for a time sufficient to convert at least a portion of said hydroxyl groups to galactosides.

  • Publication number: 20020106747
Abstract: Esterified polysaccharides and the process of making such products are disclosed. The process can be enzymatic where an enzyme is used as a catalyst for the reaction. The process can also be chemical where no enzyme is used. Novel Products are obtained through lipase-catalyzed &bgr;-lactone ring opening alcoholysis of ketene dimers and the process of making such compositions containing products.

  • Publication number: 20020076769
Abstract: Presented are compositions of reduced molecular weight galactomannans, particularly guar gum, which have been oxidized by the enzyme galactose oxidase. Further, the invention relates to a process for enzymatically reducing the molecular weight of a galactomannan wherein the galactomannan is simultaneously or subsequently oxidized using galactose oxidase, optionally in combination with other enzymes including peroxidases and or catalases. This process enables production of high concentrations of oxidized galactomannans, which have particular use in the paper making industry.
