Patent number: 7112686Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of racemic citalopram free base or an acid addition salt thereof and/or R- or S-citalopram as the free base or an acid addition salt thereof by separation of a mixture of R- and S-citalopram with more than 50% of one of the enantiomers into a fraction consisting of racemic citalopram and/or a fraction of S-citalopram or R-citalopram characterized in that i) citalopram is precipitated from a solvent as the free base or as an acid addition salt thereof; ii) the precipitate formed is separated from the mother liquor; iia) if the precipitate is crystalline it is optionally recrystallised one or more times to form racemic citalopram, and then optionally converted into an acid addition salt thereof; iib) if the precipitate is not crystalline, steps i) and ii) are optionally repeated until a crystalline precipitate is obtained and the crystalline precipitate is recrystallised one or more times to form racemic citalopram, and then optionally converted into an aciType: GrantFiled: June 25, 2002Date of Patent: September 26, 2006Assignee: H. Publication number: 20050213922Abstract: A mechanism for achieving symmetrical stress loads on operating optical fibers (16) held in fibre optic arrays includes, in one embodiment, the provision of a pair of non-operating or dummy fibres(26), each located outboard of the outermost or curb fibres(16?) of the array. All of the fibres, whether operating or dummy, are held in corresponding grooves (18, 24) in a substrate (12). A cover plate (14) may be positioned thereover while a low stress glue or potting compound (22) is introduced or applied so as to completely encapsulate the fibres. The glue or potting compound will symmetrically surround all of the operating fibres whereby not only any inboard operating fibres (16?), but also the outboard operating curb fibres (16?), are symmetrically encapsulated. In this manner all of the operating fibres are subject to the same stresses and consequently will exhibit essentially the same polarization maintaining behavior.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 15, 2005Publication date: September 29, 2005Applicant: Oz Optics LimitedInventors: Omur Sezerman, Nasser Aghdam, Thoba Nguyen, H. Patent number: 5212301Abstract: Introduction of a fluoro substituent into an aromatic ring adjacent an electron donating group is difficult producing mixed isomers and low yields of desired products.A process for the introduction of a fluoro substituent into a substantially adjacent position to an electron-donating group into an aromatic compound in high yield is disclosed. The fluoroaromatic compounds are useful as synthetic intermediates for example in the manufacture of agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and dyestuffs.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1992Date of Patent: May 18, 1993Assignee: Imperial Chemical Industries PLCInventors: John S. Patent number: 4122841Abstract: A tip for an ear test probe is disclosed for use in clinical evaluations of hearing problems. There are a number of important tests for evaluating hearing system losses which are based upon measurements taken in patients' external ear canals using a probe which uses a tip to seal the ear canal. An improved tip is described for such tests. The tip has an improved curved flange structure which helps to insure perfect sealing of the ear canal without requiring precise probe positioning or high probe sealing pressures.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1977Date of Patent: October 31, 1978Assignee: American Electromedics CorporationInventors: Erwin H. Rock, Irwin Klar

Patent number: 4025733Abstract: An improved headband is described for use in the clinical evaluation of hearing and hearing problems. There are a number of important tests of hearing which utilize test probes and other ear testing members which are conveniently held in place at the patient's ears using headbands. The headband described herein has improved means for adjustably positioning the probes or other test members and particularly for both aligning the probe and for adjusting the probe tip seating or sealing pressure at the ear canal under test. A universally adjustable probe mounting is provided on the headband for adjusting the attitude of the test probe tip and the probe support includes means for adjusting the force urging the probe tip into the ear canal under test.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1975Date of Patent: May 24, 1977Assignee: American Electromedics CorporationInventors: Irwin Klar, Erwin H. Rock

Patent number: 4002161Abstract: An instrument is described which automatically performs a tympanometric hearing test and which gives the test results in graphic form. The test instrument includes a probe which is placed in the subject's ear and which applies controlled air pressure and audio test signals to a sealed ear canal in a manner programmed by the instrument so that a plot of the ear compliance versus the ear pressure is produced on the chart. The plot is made using a coordinated chart drive and ear probe air pressure control and an audio signal generator and a compliance signal level recorder. The system automatically runs through the necessary coordinated chart advance, air pressure control, and compliance signal recordings on the chart to complete one tympanometric test after the start button is operated.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1975Date of Patent: January 11, 1977Assignee: American Electromedics CorporationInventors: Irwin Klar, Erwin H. Rock, Arthur W. Rochussen

Patent number: 3983329Abstract: A fail safe logic monitor wherein a multi-bit logic word is multiplexed into a comparator and compared thereby with a multiplexed "hard wired" reference word. The comparator provides an output compatible with conventional a.c. fail safe fault logic. Features of the invention include self monitoring any single internal failure for indicating a fault while the monitor is on line and automatic test ability and compatibility with existing fault logic.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1975Date of Patent: September 28, 1976Assignee: The Bendix CorporationInventor: Michael H. Patent number: 3951406Abstract: The paddle tennis court includes a steel, rectangular underframe having spaced cross members, steel uprights connected to the underframe and a deck preferably comprised of a plurality of independent units. Each independent unit has a plurality of metal or wooden boards secured in place by steel angles. The steel angles connect to the underframe. Adjustable steel piers can be secured to the rectangular underframe to permit leveling of the court. An in-line tensioning device operable between the steel angle and the underframe, independent of the wooden deck, provides a high tension framed screen end and side walls. The screen is secured to the court through a plurality of hook members which grip the screen and the screen framing.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1973Date of Patent: April 20, 1976Assignee: American Platform Tennis SystemsInventor: James H.
