  • Patent number: 5651996
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing chlorine dioxide (ClO.sub.2) disinfecting solution which preferably minimizes the amount of residual chlorite ion (ClO.sub.2 --) so that the disinfecting solution can be used in a number of industries, preferably including the food, food processing, drinking water, pharmaceutical production, medical and dental industries. Chlorine dioxide generating solutions which are substantially corrosion free as well as gel formulations are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 1994
Date of Patent: July 29, 1997
    Assignee: ARCO Research Co., Inc.
    Inventor: Habib Roozdar
  • Patent number: 5616347
Abstract: The present invention relates to the discovery that the inclusion of effective amounts of an irritation reducing compound selected from the group consisting of allantoin, glycerine, aloe vera and mixtures, thereof, in a chlorine dioxide generating composition will substantially reduce skin irritation which is caused by chlorine dioxide exposure to the skin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 14, 1995
Date of Patent: April 1, 1997
    Inventors: Howard Alliger, Habib Roozdar
  • Patent number: 5407656
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing chlorine dioxide (ClO.sub.2) disinfecting solution which preferably minimizes the amount of residual chlorite ion (ClO.sub.2 -) so that the disinfecting solution can be used in a number of industries, preferably including the food, food processing, drinking water, pharmaceutical production, medical and dental industries. Chlorine dioxide generating solutions which are substantially corrosion free as well as gel formulations are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 1994
Date of Patent: April 18, 1995
    Assignee: ARCO Research Co., Inc.

  • Patent number: 5380518
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing chlorine dioxide (ClO.sub.2) disinfecting solution which produces substantially greater quantities of chlorine dioxide compared to prior art methods. The method makes use of a composition comprising an aqueous soluble chlorite salt in combination with an aldehyde and an acid at a pH of less than about 5. The method preferably minimizes the amount of residual chlorite ion (ClO.sub.2.sup.-) so that the disinfecting solution can be used in a number of industries, preferably including the food, food processing, drinking water, pharmaceutical production and medical and dental related industries, among others. An additional embodiment includes chlorine dioxide generating solutions which are substantially corrosion free.
