  • Patent number: 5640965
Abstract: Pulses detected by an earlobe sensor are inputted in a microcomputer, so that the number of pulses is stored every lapse of a prescribed time. The as-stored numbers of the pulses are so cumulated that an average pulse rate is calculated from the cumulative result. On the other hand, a pulse rate is calculated from the as-stored numbers of pulses, to calculate a consumed calorie. A display part indicates the cumulative result of the pulse rates, the consumed calorie and the like with a lapse time.

  • Patent number: 5294786
Abstract: A data card for storing individual data for the use of an exerciser, such as a stationary bicycle. The data card includes a base having a transparent plate and a photo intercepting film formed on the plate for intercepting light except for a plurality of portions. A plurality of removable light stopping films each formed at least on one surface of the base at a position corresponding to the plurality of portions for stopping the passage of light through the portions. Individual data is stored by removing the light stopping film on a portion corresponding to the individual data.

  • Patent number: 5230673
Abstract: An exerciser in accordance with the present invention includes a load apparatus for applying load to pedaling of a user, pulse data detecting apparatus for detecting pulse data of the user, a card for storing optically readable individual data such as age and physical strength of the user, optical reading means for optically reading the individual data stored in the data card, and control means for controlling the magnitude of load applied by the load apparatus based on the read individual data and the detected pulse data.

  • Patent number: 4929825
Abstract: A pulsimeter comprises a pulse sensor portion including a light emitting diode and a photodiade, and a main body, the pulse sensor portion and the main body being connected through a cord. The main body includes a received light comparing circuit for comparing a quantity of light received by the photodiode with a predetermined valve, and a display device for displaying a result of the comparison. If there is no abnormality in the cord and the pulse sensor portion in normal condition is not in contact with a human body, the quantity of received light in increased to cause a light emitting diode of the display device to be turned on. On the other hand, if there is any abnormality in the cord or the pulse sensor portion, the quantity of received light is not increased and the light emitting diode is not turned on. While the pulsimeter in normal condition is being used, the light emitting diode is not turned on because of light transmission through the human body.
