  • Patent number: 10086704
Abstract: A method of controlling power to a vehicle accessory gradually shuts down power to the vehicle accessory and gradually restores power to the vehicle accessory. After a request for an auto-shutdown of an internal combustion engine of a vehicle is detected, power to the vehicle accessory is reduced on a predetermined schedule responsive to such detection. The occurrence of a restart of the internal combustion engine of a vehicle is determined, and power supplied to the vehicle accessory is increased on a predetermined schedule responsive to the restart.

  • Patent number: 10029688
Abstract: A stop/start hybrid vehicle includes an engine configured for stopping and restarting during travel, a multiple-ratio transmission, a brake pedal, and an electronic parking brake. The transmission can be shifted into reverse gear either when the brake pedal is applied or unapplied. At least one controller is programmed to control the vehicle under these scenarios. If the engine is off and the brake pedal is applied when the transmission is shifted into reverse, the controller restarts the engine. If the engine is off and the brake pedal is unapplied when the transmission is shifted into reverse, the controller inhibits the engine from restarting until the brake pedal is applied. The controller can also be programmed to apply the electronic parking brake while the brake pedal remains unapplied after a predetermined time from the transmission being shifted into the reverse gear.

  • Patent number: 9995232
Abstract: A method to control engine start-stop in a vehicle is provided. The method includes outputting via a controller an engine command to auto-start the engine based on detection of a predetermined vehicle condition affecting fuel economy of the vehicle, detection of a shift from neutral to another gear position, and whether a predetermined time threshold has expired following the shift in response to detection of a presence of an engine auto-stop mode and a neutral gear position. The predetermined vehicle condition may be a movement of the vehicle in a reverse direction. The predetermined vehicle condition may be a battery parameter being outside of predetermined range. The predetermined range may be based on a battery state of charge, a battery temperature, a battery voltage, or a battery load current.
