  • Publication number: 20170298184
Abstract: A formaldehyde-free and fluorine-free needling additive for the manufacture of needle felts of mineral wool, which contains an aqueous solution or an aqueous dispersion of at least one halogen-free cationic polymer on the basis of azacyclopropane (ethyleneimine). Needle felts of mineral wool that are produced using such needling additive virtually do not emit any aldehydes even in a use of up to 500° C., and are absolutely free of volatile fluorine-containing organic and inorganic compounds, in particular hydrogen fluoride. The needle felts are best suited for heat insulation in household appliances such as ovens, especially those including a high-temperature cleaning program.

  • Patent number: 8366863
Abstract: The present invention relates to a binder for the production of bonded mineral wool, wherein a phenol-formaldehyde-binder is applied onto the still hot fibers after the fiberization of a mineral wool, using a binder that comprises hydroxylamine or an amino alcohol with the following general formula (I) wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different from each other, and independently are hydrogen, a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon with 1-12 carbon atoms, a saturated or unsaturated alicyclic or heterocyclic hydrocarbon with 5-8 carbon atoms, a carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with 5-12 ring members or a chain-like or branched alkylether with 1-50 alkoxy units or a chain-like or branched alkylamine with 1-50 alkylamine units; and R3 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon with 1-12 carbon atoms, a saturated or unsaturated alicyclic or heterocyclic hydrocarbon with 5-8 carbon atoms, a carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon w

    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Isover
    Inventors: Hagen Huenig, Eva Wagner
  • Patent number: 8034415
Abstract: The present invention concerns a composition containing: an aqueous dispersion of at least one phenol-formaldehyde resin; at least one amine compound, wherein the molecular mass of the amine compound does not exceed approximately 20 000 g/mole, at least one activated silane, as well as at least one aromatic hydroxyl compound. The composition may be employed as a formaldehyde-free binder for the manufacture of mineral wool.
