  • Patent number: 7717023
Abstract: Apparatus and accompanying methods for the detection and subsequent destruction or disablement of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) while maintaining a satisfactory level of human safety. Operationally, our inventive method and apparatus detects the IED using one or more methods including: detecting internal battery components; detecting magnetic signature(s) of the IED; detecting a characteristic energy spectrum of the IED; and/or detecting characteristic chemical signatures of the device(s). Once detected, the device may be further characterized and then subsequently deactivated and/or destroyed by a shaped pulse charge directed at the device or its power source (battery) from a safe distance.

Abstract: An integrated touch screen and display device includes a polarizer with a layer of transparent conductive material deposited thereon. A touch screen controller is coupled to electrodes of the transparent conductive layer to detect the location of touches by, for example, a finger or stylus. A method for producing an integrated touch screen and display device includes applying a transparent conductive coating to an outer surface of a polarizer of a display device, creating electrodes in the conductive coating, and coupling the electrodes to a touch screen controller. A double super twisted nematic display that includes a capacitive touch panel integrated into a compensation cell of the display is also provided herein.

  • Publication number: 20100026659
Abstract: A capacitive touch screen panel includes top and bottom ITO coated glass sheets that may both be connected to detection electronics (e.g., a controller) by way of a single, normal flexible printed circuit connector. The ITO coated surface of each of the top and bottom glass sheets may face each other and a transparent material such as an optically clear adhesive may be disposed between the top and bottom glass sheets. In some embodiments, a number of spacers may be disposed between the top and bottom glass sheets to maintain a desired gap between the sheets. In other embodiments, the single, normal flexible printed circuit connector may generally reside in a single plane.

  • Publication number: 20100014231
Abstract: A blade enclosure includes a chassis comprising a sidewall and a front wall substantially perpendicular to the sidewall, a mounting bracket secured on the sidewall of the chassis, a bezel secured to the front wall of the chassis, the bezel comprising a panel substantially parallel to the front wall of the chassis and a side plate connected to the panel. An opening is defined at a joint of the panel and the side plate, and an ID case substantially parallel to the sidewall of the chassis is insertable in the chassis from the opening, the ID case having an information piece and a mounting piece received in the mounting bracket and slide therein. An end of the information piece aligned with an outer surface of the panel of the bezel is capable of being exposed outside from the opening of the bezel.

  • Publication number: 20090320129
Abstract: A cross-module detection system and method for detecting and monitoring control flow transfers between software modules in a computer system. The system and method detect and monitor control flows entering and exiting the software modules. For a particular module, a checking model is extracted from the binary file of that module. In addition, a relaxed shadow stack is generated. If the module is an original module, meaning that the control flow originated from that module, then the checking model is used to check the validity of the control flow transfer. Otherwise, the relaxed shadow stack is used. An interception module is used to intercept and terminate invalid control flow transfers. If an invalid control flow transfer is detected, then the transfer is terminated. Otherwise, the control flow transfer is allowed to continue.

  • Patent number: 5535165
Abstract: A single chip integrated circuit 200 is disclosed which includes logic circuitry 202, memory circuitry 204, and a bus 300. First bus control circuitry 302 controls the exchange of signals between logic circuitry 202 and bus 300. Second bus control circuitry 303 controls the exchange of signals between memory circuitry 204 and bus 300. Third bus control circuitry 306 is included which controls the exchange of signals between bus 300 and at least one test pin 206. Mode control circuitry 205 is operable as control circuitry 302, 303, and 306. In the operating mode, mode control circuitry 205 activates first bus control circuitry 302 and second bus control circuitry 303. In a memory test mode, mode control circuitry 205 activates second bus control circuitry 303 and third bus control circuitry 306 and deactivates first bus control circuitry 302.
