    Abstract: For selectively receiving a facsimile image data, a sender's facsimile telephone number is registered in the register of a receiver's facsimile machine. Such a method can include the steps of receiving the sender's facsimile telephone number during the communication protocol exchange upon ringing of an incoming signal, detecting whether the sender's facsimile telephone number is registered in the receiver's register, and disconnecting the receiving line to stop the facsimile reception if the sender's facsimile telephone number is not registered in the receiver's register.
