Patent number: 7499717Abstract: Methods to create a cellular-like communication system, such as a Wireless Private Branch Exchange (WPBX), which includes mobile devices such as standard cordless phones (handsets), particularly, mobile devices utilizing the Bluetooth short-range wireless communication protocol. The methods provide seamless and reliable handoff of sessions between Base Stations while the mobile device is moving between picocells, by implementing a high-level of synchronization between the Base Stations and the Switch. Base Stations of picocells having small coverage areas communicate with the handsets. The communication protocol is divided into a low-level protocol performed by the Base Stations and a high-level protocol performed by the Switch connected to all the Base Stations. The methods support mobile computing or telephony devices and communication protocols, which are not specified to handle handoffs of sessions while moving between Base Stations coverage areas in a data, voice or telephony wireless network.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2007Date of Patent: March 3, 2009Assignee: Commil USA LLCInventors: Nitzan Arazi, Yaron Soffer, Haim Barak

Publication number: 20040077349Abstract: A method to allow standard cellular handsets and personal data devices that support short-range communication to seamlessly connect to a wireless private branch exchange (WPBX) when it is in its coverage range. Thus the handset will become the handset of the WPBX, and there is no need to use special and expensive handsets with the WPBX. The WPBX includes a plurality of Base Stations, a plurality of gateways—all connected by communication links—and the required communication between them is also described. The operating procedures that the Base Stations and the Switch perform are described. The WPBX allows handoff between cells, when a standard cordless handset is used. The handset does not support connection to more then one Base Station and does not support mobility. The handset uses complicated digital communication methods, so simple handoff methods that only the Switch supports are not sufficient.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2003Publication date: April 22, 2004Inventors: Haim Barak, Nitzan Arazi, Yaron Soffer, Ofer Bachar

Patent number: 6046824Abstract: A passive long term facsimile transmission storage and retrieval system, which includes a facsimile logger passively or actively coupled to at least one telephone line connected to a facsimile machine is provided. The facsimile logger acquires and stores the facsimile transmissions that occur on the telephone line, on long term archive media. The system also includes a database coupled to the facsimile logger and at least one workstation coupled to the facsimile logger. The database holds relevant data associated with the stored facsimile transmission. The workstation is able to search for and retrieve the facsimile transmissions previously stored by the facsimile logger on the long term archive media. The fax logger also includes the capability for a user to enter a series of numbers that provide information concerning the identity of the operator, the account number for billing purposes and any subaddressing related data. The series of numbers are entered on the keypad of the fax machine.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1997Date of Patent: April 4, 2000Assignee: Nice Systems, Ltd.Inventor: Haim Barak
