  • Patent number: 11943382
Abstract: An audio receiver for a converged portable radio (LMR/LTE radio) is provided with improved audio management. The converged device is managed by two different processors (BP/AP) and includes a selectable user setting for selecting either an LMR audio mode or an LTE audio mode (or both). Power up timing differences between the two processors is managed through a smart audio switch mechanism which includes AP control logic for selectively enabling and disabling an AP audio switch in response to operational status of both (AP/BP) processors during power up. The smart audio switch system further includes BP control logic for selectively enabling and disabling a BP audio switch in response to the operational status of the processors. Audio is played out at a single speaker. Both LTE audio and LMR audio can be mixed for a predetermined time during power up until the user selected audio mode has been established.

  • Patent number: 11799983
Abstract: A process of ranking internet-of-things (IoT) data based on IoT analytics services. In operation, the IoT gateway receives IoT data captured by an IoT device and transmits the IoT data to IoT analytics servers each providing a different IoT analytics service. The IoT gateway receives acknowledgments including data rankings from IoT analytics servers. Each of the acknowledgments include a respective one of the data rankings indicating an importance of the IoT data as an input to the IoT analytics service provided by a respective one of the IoT analytics servers. The IoT gateway assigns an aggregated data ranking to the IoT data based on the data rankings included in the acknowledgments received from the IoT analytics servers. The IoT gateway then transmits, to the IoT device, an electronic notification including the aggregated data ranking assigned to the IoT data.

  • Patent number: 11743570
Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a camera is provided herein. During operation a microphone will identify an object by receiving the sound emitted by the object. Once the object has been identified, a main frequency component of the received sound is determined, and camera parameters are adjusted based on the value of the main frequency component.

  • Publication number: 20210311987
Abstract: A database of repeated words/phrases will be built along with the user context experienced when the word was repeated (or asked to be repeated). A virtual partner will determine a user's context, and then avoid words that were repeated for users in similar contexts. Substitute words may be provided for those often-repeated words/phrases.

  • Publication number: 20210074132
Abstract: Methods for detecting faults in a siren-based alert system include receiving, by a siren device from a central siren controller, an activation command. The activation command identifies a neighbor siren device that is to be activated. Audible alerts output by the neighbor siren device include a unique identifying characteristic associated with the neighbor siren device. The method includes determining that the unique identifying characteristic is not detectable by the siren device and, in response, taking corrective action. The corrective action includes the siren device sending a siren fault notification to the central siren controller indicating a failure to detect the unique identifying characteristic and may also include modifying the audible alert output by the siren device to compensate for the faulty siren device. The siren device may send a siren fault notification to the central siren controller if an unexpected audible alert, such as a potential false alarm, is detected.

  • Patent number: 10825450
Abstract: An electronic computing device for providing a response to an audio query where the response is determined to have a public safety impact. The electronic computing device includes a microphone and an electronic processor. The electronic processor is configured to receive audio data including a speech segment and determine a plurality of possible meanings of the speech segment. Each possible meaning is associated with a probability that the possible meaning is a correct meaning for the speech segment and a first possible meaning is associated with a first probability that is higher than a second probability associated with a second possible meaning. The electronic processor is also configured to determine public safety impact context information of the second possible meaning. The electronic processor is further configured to output a second response associated with the second possible meaning without first outputting a first response associated with the first possible meaning.

  • Patent number: 10671341
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for configuring a portable communication device are disclosed. The methods include receiving an incoming audio signal, adjusting the incoming signal audio level based on a volume control setting, generating an ultrasonic audio signal having an audio level independent of the volume control setting, mixing the incoming signal with the ultrasonic signal to generate a mixed audio signal, outputting the mixed signal to a remote audio device, receiving a remote audio signal from the remote device, and comparing the remote signal audio level to one or more thresholds to determine whether to output a compensated audio signal to a speaker. The remote signal may be detected by the remote device in response to sound output from the remote device based on the mixed signal, and the compensated signal audio signal may be adjusted based on an estimated loss in loudness associated with the remote signal audio level.

  • Patent number: 10595129
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for configuring an electronic communication device are disclosed. The methods include determining that the device is operating in a loud speaker mode and a front side of the device is in proximity to a surface, thus determining that the device is in a position associated with acoustic coupling between the loud speaker and the front microphone. The methods include initiating emission of a beacon signal from the loud speaker, determining, dependent on a measured property of the beacon signal received by the front microphone, that the acoustic coupling exceeds a predetermined threshold for high acoustic coupling and, in response, configuring a rear microphone as the primary microphone for capturing audio input. The beacon signal may be an ultrasonic signal. Once the device is no longer in the position associated with acoustic coupling nor experiencing high acoustic coupling, the front microphone may be configured as the primary microphone.

  • Patent number: 10271132
Abstract: A method and personal stereo speaker system is provided for providing audio to a user. Speakers provide audio to the ears of a user. The speakers are preferably mounted on the shoulders of the user. The audio emanating from the speakers has a beam angle and an audio level. When the system detects that the head of the user has moved, either side-to-side, up and down, or rotationally, or that the user has commended moving, a controller changes at least one of the beam angle and the audio level in response to the movement. This improves the quality of the sound heard by the user and also keeps the privacy of the audio optimized.

  • Patent number: 10230255
Abstract: A coil-in-coil structure (100) is formed within two devices (106, 108). The coil-in-coil structure (100) enables both wireless charging and secure pairing between the two devices (106, 108). The coil-in-coil structure (100) permits expanded wireless functionality using a single transmit coil (104) at a host radio device (108) and a receive coil (102) at an accessory device (106). • Publication number: 20050280576
Abstract: A subscriber unit (103) for a cellular communication system (100) comprises a first location processor (117) which determines a location estimate from signals transmitted from satellites (105) and from satellite information related to the satellites (105). The satellites (105) may be Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites. The subscriber unit (103) also comprises a receiver (115) which receives the satellite information, and further comprises a second location processor (111) which determines location estimates based on uplink or downlink transmissions in the cellular communication system (100). An update controller (121) determines an update time for the satellite information in response to the location estimates of the second location processor (111). Accordingly, the update operation may be optimised for the specific movement of the subscriber unit (103) without requiring satellite based location estimates.
