  • Patent number: 10854923
Abstract: Low flammability and nonflammable localized superconcentrated electrolytes (LSEs) for stable operation of lithium and sodium ion batteries are disclosed. Electrochemical devices including the low flammability and nonflammable LSEs are also disclosed. The low flammability and nonflammable LSEs include an active salt, a solvent comprising a flame retardant compound, wherein the active salt is soluble in the solvent, and a diluent in which the active salt is insoluble or poorly soluble. The LSE may further include a cosolvent, such as a carbonate, a sulfone, a sulfite, a sulfate, a carboxylate, an ether, a nitrogen-containing solvent, or any combination thereof. In certain embodiments, such as when the solvent and diluent are immiscible, the LSE further includes a bridge solvent.

  • Publication number: 20130316244
Abstract: An electrode is formed of a ternary composite of silicon, carbon, and carbon filter foil, for lithium ion batteries. Also described is a method for manufacturing silicon/carbon/carbon fiber foil composite electrode for lithium batteries, including: mixing silicon and an organic substance capable of forming carbon after heat treatment, in a solvent, to form a slurry; immersing the carbon fiber foil in said slurry until the slurry coats on and penetrates into the carbon fiber foil; and heating the carbon fiber foil, which has been coated and penetrated with the slurry, in an inert gas atmosphere or all inert gas atmosphere mixed with a reductive gas at a temperature of at least 400° C. for at least 2 hours.

  • Publication number: 20100112627
Abstract: System and method for displaying three-dimensional object scattergrams of particles are provided. In one embodiment, at least two parameters associated with at least one particle in a biological sample are detected and stored as data. An initial two-dimensional scattergram of the data is created with the two dimensions corresponding to the two parameters, and each data point corresponding to a particle in the biological sample. A data point in the initial two-dimensional scattergram is categorized into a population corresponding to a particle population. A density value of the data point is evaluated. Color data for the data point is calculated based on the evaluated density value and the categorized population. A three-dimensional location is generated based on the location in the initial two-dimensional scattergram and a property of the data point. A geometric shape centered at the generated three-dimensional location is displayed using the calculated color data.
