  • Patent number: 9021751
Abstract: The system described herein consists of an isolator and a damping device. The isolator and damping device are used to isolate structures and thus to mitigate earthquake effects on structures. These devices extremely reduce transmitted energy to an isolated superstructure, so that protected structures by means of the devices described herein, may have small or no damages. The isolator has a spherical base fixed to ground via a footing, middle part that responds to the moving base by rotating around the center of a small concave or convex, causing the superstructure to move upwards and downwards vertically, and a top part connected to a superstructure. The damping device consists of a base receives vertical displacement from the superstructure, dampers and springs to dissipate more energy, restrict maximum horizontal displacements and might help returning the superstructure to its stationary position in smooth way.

  • Patent number: 8950127
Abstract: A wind turbine station for generating electricity comprising a multi floor structure having open framing. The open framing comprising at least two spaced-apart, open, vertical frames, the frames each made primarily of uncovered beams and columns. The station has a plurality of vertically spaced, horizontal, interior platforms forming the floors of the structure, each interior platform extending between and joined to both of the frames over the length of the frames. Wind turbines are mounted on the structure about the outer periphery of each platform. The wind turbines face outwardly and are each operatively connected to a generator to produce electricity. In a preferred embodiment, the structure has an annular shape with an outer cylindrical or polygonal prism frame and an inner cylindrical or polygonal prism frame spaced from the outer frame. The interior platforms have a flat, ring shape. The invention includes a method for building the station.

  • Publication number: 20140338271
Abstract: Frictional Non Rocking Seismic Base Isolator For Structure Seismic Protection (FNSI) is a seismic protection isolator installed under foundations or columns of a building or other structure. FNSI separates a building or other structures from ground seismic motions and passes slight fraction of seismic forces to the superstructures so that the superstructure protected from earthquake induced damages. FNSI consists of three main parts, a Sliding Hammer fixed into ground, a Rotating Anvil, RA, and a Hook fixed to the superstructure, wherein contacted moving surfaces are so smooth for effective isolation. Seismic motions shake the sliding hammer which imitates ground motions and causes RA to rotate around center of the Hook convex or concave, and to simultaneously vibrate in vertical direction. RA movements cause the isolated superstructure to move vertically and slightly horizontally where the vertical vibrations can be accommodated by increase in material strength when responding to short term loading.

  • Publication number: 20120174500
Abstract: The system described herein consists of a seismic isolator and a damping device. The system is used to isolate structures from seismic forces and further reduces transmitted forces via the seismic isolator to structure. The isolator has a spherical base fixed to ground, middle part that responds to the moving base by rotating around the centre of a small concave or convex, causing the superstructure to move upwards and downwards vertically, and a top part connected to the superstructure and the isolator middle part. The damping device consists of horizontal seismic force filter, springs, dampers and a vertical force transferor beam. Structures seismically isolated with the system herein may be protected to adequate amounts that allow minimal or no damages to the superstructures. That means continuous serviceability during and aftermath becomes achievable for the very most of the earthquakes and site characteristics combinations.
