  • Publication number: 20220331478
Abstract: Provided herein are methods for making foam materials and foam material products having a polyurethane foam matrix defining a plurality of pores, a hydrophilic agent retained within at least a portion of the pores for improving an absorption of the foam material, a salt retained within at least a portion of the pores in an amount sufficient to render the foam material isotonic, a surfactant retained within at least a portion of the pores in an amount sufficient to be released upon contact with a moist surface. Also provided herein are methods for making a multilayer foam by casting a second foam layer on a first foam layer substrate and compressing the second foam layer before the second layer is fully cured to form an interface layer in situ.

  • Patent number: 10016584
Abstract: A multilayered composite sheet for delivering one or more therapeutic agents to the skin is disclosed. The composite sheet comprises a flexible porous polymer with open cells of a sufficient size for holding a therapeutic agent, an encapsulating agent for encapsulating the flexible porous polymer and therapeutic agent, and an enrobing agent for enrobing the encapsulated flexible porous polymer and therapeutic agent. Additional layers of the flexible porous polymer, therapeutic agent and other materials are added to the first layer which is in contact with the skin. The first layer has particular particle sizes for the flexible porous polymer, open cell size, and therapeutic agent allowing for relatively quick delivery of the therapeutic agent to the skin. Each successive layer placed on top of the first layer has incrementally larger particle sizes of the flexible porous polymer and therapeutic agent providing successively longer delivery times than the first layer.

  • Patent number: 9579294
Abstract: A method of treating scar tissue by applying a composite sheet for delivering therapeutic agents to the skin is disclosed. The composite sheet comprises a flexible porous polymer for holding and releasing the therapeutic agent in a polymer enrobing material. Microchannels pass through the polymer enrobing material and flexible porous polymer to promote the release of the therapeutic agent. The composite sheet is capable of releasing the therapeutic agent for periods of about 0 to about 30 days.

  • Patent number: 7678092
Abstract: A collapsible fluid containment bag for irrigating and cleaning wounds on extremities having semi-rigid support members and an elevated lower support member attached to the bottom of the proximal end of the containment bag creating a gradient for allowing irrigation fluids and biological tissue to drain to the distal end of the bag for removal. The containment bag is collapsible, making it a convenient size for storage, transport, and disposal.
